RunningWild Posted February 16 Posted February 16 On the way is a The Card Geek’s Kipper deck. I’ve also ordered Le Tarot Arthurien by Christine Duval with artwork by Ana Tourian. I do like Tourian’s artwork for the deck although I’m not a big fan of the Arthurian legend-styled stuff. I know it just well enough to muck it all up. The guidebook is all in French which is just fine by me.
FindYourSovereignty Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) I unexpectedly received my Victorian Faery Tarot deck. We have had everything shipping to our son's home while building the house. The deck is lovely and I can even riffle shuffle it. The full size is a little challenging to do that, but the mini is perfect. Edit: actually, after a few minutes of shuffling, even the full size deck is easy to riffle shuffle. ❤️ Edited March 27 by FindYourSovereignty
xTheHermitx Posted March 27 Posted March 27 will hopefully be getting my Telos Tarot in the next few days!!!

katrinka Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Meleen can be trusted to create correct, informed decks. Truly an exception in this day and age!
xTheHermitx Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Wow!!! This deck is awesome in person!!! So much detail in all of the presentation. I want to skip work this week and play with it!
heaven Posted April 19 Posted April 19 With excitement, I am waiting on the Tarot of the New Vision (Not my photo) I'd forgotten that I wanted it some years ago and saw it again. It reminds me of the After Tarot, which is one of my favorite decks.
Elaina Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I'm waiting for the Runway tarot right now. I ran across this fashion based one and was squeed. I work in fashion *shrugs*
gregory Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I have a couple of slightly overdue Kickstarter ones which will show up in their own good time. I hope.
Hedera Posted April 28 Posted April 28 I'm waiting for the Hush tarot - again....This will be my third round with this deck, I keep getting fascinated, frustrated and then getting rid of it! 😅 Perhaps I will reassign some cards in a way that fits me better. Also the Journal for Wonder Walking, which I am *very* excited about; I tend to stay inside a little too much during summer, because all the light bothers my eyes and I don't like the heat (give me a nice, cool, gentle rainy day!), so I'm hoping this book will help me get out a little bit more. I thought I might just use the book on it's own, or even assign some tarot cards to the Wonder Walking equivalents (the deck is divided into 4 sections, loosely corresponding to the 4 tarot suits), but in the end I ordered the actual deck as well. 😉 But, to be honest, I am most excited for some new bras that will hopefully arrive today! Spent some time trying out different sizes & styles and I think I finally have it figured out for now (until my body dimensions change yet again...). Looking forward to have some comfortable bras again!

I missed this campaign - probably for tbe best as I have the Walking Meditation Tarot already, but these books look amazing.
EchoCharlie Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I’m currently waiting on the Telos deck. I just received the Tabula Mundi deck and I love it so much. I also have 3 or 4 kickstarter decks i’m waiting on.
Chariot Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I haven't bought any tarot-related things for quite a while. So today I treated myself to my third oracle deck by Jacqui Lovesey ...the one called The Hare's Odyssey, bought from her own shop on Etsy. Okay, I didn't need another of her oracle decks, but there is something about her work that calms and comforts me. I look forward to getting the deck, probably fairly soon. 🙂

It’s one that I’m tempted by, but I’d have to get someone to help me to buy it since she no longer ships here. That’s partly why I’ve held off, but also because I already have several of her decks. I’ve actually been doing a deep dive into her other decks that I have, and I’m comparing them to find my favorite(s). Currently I’m really enjoying the Arboretum deck. Which one of her decks is your favorite?
Teemu Posted May 1 Posted May 1 While browsing some music on bandcamp, I came across Paulina Fae. She has designed a quite intersting Tarot IMHO, the "Magicmakers Tarot". I am a bit tempted.

I’ve actually been doing a deep dive into her other decks that I have, and I’m comparing them to find my favorite(s). Currently I’m really enjoying the Arboretum deck. Which one of her decks is your favorite? My favourite is The Majick Cottage, but the one thing I don't like about that one is the card stock. Not only are the cards fairly large (5 inches by 3 3/4 inches) but the card stock is thick. It's impossible to riffle shuffle them, and I struggle with the hand to hand shuffle at the best of times. Therefore I use them differently ...I whiz through the deck face up, and grab out (without thinking about it) the ones that strike me on a given day. I do love Jacqui's pictures, though. And they are fun to just browse through and look at. They have comforting images, and yet are also very imaginative. I also have The Arboridium. Card stock is fantastic with this deck. I'm not quite as fond of the card designations, but still like them well enough to use frequently. This one I can riffle shuffle, so I can randomise the selection. Similar pictures, which I love. But I find some of the designations and the stories that go with them are preach-ier than The Majick Cottage. Lessons to learn, etc. I think this is the earlier of the two decks. That being said, I am NOT a fan of the makey-up language the authors use in the accompanying books, and get quite fed up with the over-use of some terms; "saztaculous" is one term I get particularly fed up seeing in every other paragraph—or so it seems. I did initially like the idea of a few made-up words, but I think they get over-used. That makes the whole exercise seem too child-like—which feels condescending to me. (As a child, that would have annoyed me! It's like baby-talk at times.) But maybe that's just me. The terms don't interfere with my enjoyment of the cards. The philosophy of both decks is calming and encourages us to accept negative experiences, not to be afraid of them, and to consider them part of regular life. I often need to hear that! The philosophy often urges us to take time out to appreciate and enjoy the moment and the environment. I need to hear that as well! Edited May 1 by Chariot
Raggydoll Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I totally agree with you on the made up words. It annoys me that certain cards have made up words for titles, because it makes the guidebook necessary. I’m more of an intuitive reader and thats my main gripe with these decks. I too am very sick of the saztaculous thing. And I don’t love the affirmation style cards in certain of the decks (’be more majical’ or whatnot). But I really like the style of the artwork and they read well. And certain of the stories/cards are quite thought provoking!
Ferrea Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) The postman brought the Floating World Tarot: "Explore the ancient traditions of the tarot with Japanese spiritualism." It's cute, but not kawaii. People have yellow eyes and red pupils—almost savage-looking. Basically borderless and very colourful, it just sparks joy while reading with it. The box is nicely done (though it will be stowed away). The accompanying book has a slight millennial tone—things like "become a better version of yourself" and other journaling prompts. A full silent flip-through can be found on DivinationDragon's channel. Edited May 13 by Ferrea

The outlines on the majors and court cards are gold foiled, making it my first bling deck too! 😄 ETA: It's also cambric linen stock, and printed by Cartamundi, so the quality is there 😍 I love the look of this! I love those reversed images and I want to see them all!

Ferrea Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Through my US connection, I received a bunch of new decks, all ordered last year: the Zanoni (majors only), the Flow, the Japaridze, and the PoMo Tarot. The latter is the most exciting one. It's beautiful, hilarious, and utterly confusing. Not only have the suits been renamed—TVs (Wands), Guns (Swords), Bottles (Cups), and Bills (Pentacles)—but two elements are also swapped from the traditional CSW system: TVs/Wands is now air, and Guns/Swords fire. It makes sense, though. However, you have to deal with 28 new cards and their unusual character. I wasn't aware of how the creator, Brian Williams, approached this deck before receiving it. In short, from the abundant body of artistic work produced over the centuries, he selected pieces, unified them aesthetically through his own style, and matched their messages to the tarot. The texts in the book read like a commentary on art history. Funny, insightful, surprising—a feast for the mind. The cards are huge (9,5 x 15 cm) but relatively thin, similar to the Light and Shadow Tarot. (I just discovered while writing this and researching the creator that he also co-created that deck. The colour scheme of the PoMo Tarot also reminded me of the Minchiate, which he created as well.) Casino shuffling works quite well. It comes in a slipcase with a charming little book—tiny print, but generally great typography. The only flaw: brittle glue and poor binding quality—it cracked apart upon first opening. Soon it will be a collection of sheets. It already doesn't fit properly into its slipcase anymore. I had trouble choosing which cards to display here. Every time I go through the deck, I discover something new and think: OMG! Williams' astute observations and how he turns them into loving, near-caricature vignettes just get me. It's quite affordable when you check on ebay.com. I think I paid $22, incl. shipping (within the US, of course).

Thanks to you, the Postman is now officially bringing this deck to me as well! I had heard about this deck years ago but never really considered it—until your post about it prompted me to take another look. One of my most favorite classes in college was an Art History class that focused on Modern Art. I wasn't a fan before I took that class, but greatly enjoyed learning about it and began to admire many of the artists we studied. I found a listing for the Pomo Tarot deck that included pics of all the cards, and right away recognized several of the works parodied in it. Oh my word, what a clever deck! Plus, his style reminded me of another wonderful artist whose comic strips I admire. I'm NOT a collector, but I love decks that take traditional tarot imagery and turn it on its head—if done intelligently, as this one does. I can't wait to get mine, so thank you for writing about it!
