Looks like I'm going to pick up a minchiate deck and dive right in then! 

I am thinking of buying the Expansion Pack to my Spacious Tarot, turning it into a Minchiate (well, sort of, as the deck is modern), since I really love the deck and use it a lot. 

On the other hand, I am not really into astrology. Do you have to be into astrology in order to use Minchiate at least more or less skillfully?

The Minchiate does have twelve zodiacal trumps, so I guess a basic understanding of astrology is at least necessary.

Thank you, that's logical of course, I am just so unwilling to learn astrology. Eh well, we'll see! Maybe at some point I will.

You don't need a deep understanding, just a basic knowledge of what the 12 signs represent should be a good starting point.

If you scroll down to "signs of the zodiac" it gives you a pretty good overview of the signs from a more traditional point of view. Just pick out some keywords for when those cards crop up and expand them as needed 😁

I would add rulerships and exaltations for each of the zodiac to the basic knowledge list.

@fire cat pickles oh my god, why is tarot doing this to me? Next thing I will be learning numerology! By the way, I know a really good numerologist here, she impressed me immensely.

This is very handy for if you view a suit as having a planetary archetype, for example swords as Mars. Its come up in a few of my minchiate readings before and it's useful. Kind of a bit similar to elemental dignity (or at least how I was doing it) 😊
