Deshy Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. I can't think of anywhere else to post. I don't have a spread. I just want to know the individual card meaning. I know this card means loss of intuition but can it ALSO mean a literal scandal, especially if combined with the moon reversed?
November Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Hi, actually I've never heard about such meaning for The High Priestess Rx.. What rather comes to my mind is someone keeping a secret and not telling how things really are, so combined with The Moon Rx may mean hiding the truth, telling lies..
DanielJUK Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 This thread was perfect for Individual Card Meanings 😆 I've moved it over there! If you think about it, any card could show a scandal but the context of the card, shows the context of the scandal. I don't think you can look at it and say "scandal". The "scandal" of the HP reversed is that you cannot trust her. Instead of trusting her secrets and link to the unconscious, you know can't trust her secrets. She might have ulterior motives. Hidden agendas. She could be someone you trust but is selling your secrets to a newspaper anonymously. If you think about it HP reversed and the Moon reversed have something in common. They are both about a blocked intuition in some form.

Thanks for the info! Both cards were reversed so I read it as 'secrets coming to light'. That alongside high priestess in reverse, which I read as either a negation or the shadow energy of the upright meaning. I just got the strongest intuition that these two mean dark secrets coming to light about this person, which perfectly suits the context too.
Misterei Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) To me a negative HP means someone blabbing secrets, betraying a confidence, or gossip. So if the scandal involves gossip and someone betraying confidences ... then yes ... HP could be involved in a scandal. Does this card alone show a scandal? Not at all ... I would need to see the whole spread and context of the question. Say its at work and you've got this negative HP, negative Moon, 5 swords, Queen swords, 10 swords ... a woman at work threw you under the bus with poison gossip and talking behind your back. Now you're the "star" of a workplace scandal. Add Lovers or Two Cups and King Pents... she told everyone you were having an affair with a co-worker in Finance. Add Emperor instead of King Pents ... she told everyone you slept with the boss to get that promotion. Lucky you. Edited May 22, 2023 by Misterei
Juperko Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 It for sure may. According to various sources, the High Priestess is supposed to represent Pope Joan. The story of the female pope, often referred to as Pope Joan, is a medieval legend rather than a historically verified event. According to the legend, a woman disguised herself as a man and rose through the ranks of the Catholic Church, eventually becoming elected as Pope. It is said that her true gender was only discovered when she gave birth during a papal procession. However, there is no solid historical evidence to support the existence of a female pope in the official records of the Catholic Church. Pope Joan's story is widely regarded as a myth or a fictional tale created during the Middle Ages. The female Pope is a scandal. So the High Priestess card can point to scandal and revealing secrets

HP rev is a dark witch in my opinion. Oh and Justice was reversed too. Looked to me like someone is badmouthing me and others are judging me unfairly based on that. Let's see how events progress...

Now I know. 😮 Even stranger is that I usually get this 'unfairly judged' kind of scandal from it. Like she never really did anything wrong but the world prosecuted her unfairly and now she is 'witchy' about it. Very strange energy about this card... Edited May 31, 2023 by Deshy
