Self-promotion in bio & signature?

Hello, hello~

 

So, I’ve read forum rules, but want to be absolutely sure I understand: is it okay to have self-promotional links in my bio and signature? When I first got here, I wrote up my bio and mentioned a couple places where I am also online. But then, I started thinking maybe I am not supposed to do that. I will edit my bio if told to do so, no problem, because I don’t want to be disrespectful by doing something for free, if this is something you’re supposed to pay for in order to do.

 

In general, is there anything I’m doing/have done so far that I shouldn’t be? If so, please let me know what it is so I can correct it. I would never intentionally break rules 🙏

 

Is it okay to offer free readings/insights to others in my own dedicated thread? You just can’t post a new topic asking for readings, right? But it’s okay to offer them? (So long as they are free, that is?)

 

Lastly, nerd talk, but the last time I was on a forum (many years ago haha), I remember using BBCode to link, change text color, things like this. Does this forum accept BBCode? HTML? I don’t know if I’m making any sense 😂 I’m on a tablet ‘cause my laptop needs repair, so if there are options for changing text color and all that, I must not be seeing them, lol.

 

I have terrible anxiety, but wanted to ask! Just some curiosities of mine. Thank you in advance ❤️❤️❤️

It's fine in your bio as it's your private space to write about you! It's not posting in the forum.

The signature space will only let you post a working link if you are a subscriber. You can put whatever (non-offensive) text there you like. Only subscribers can have active links in that field. Subscribers can also post their personal links in the directory above.

 

You are not breaking any rules because you haven't self promoted across the forum or in posts 🙂

 

You can offer readings for others in the Tarot Exchange area (if it's tarot or the equal space for oracles, cartomancy, etc). Members must give you feedback and you can set your own reading guidelines for want, it has to meet forum rules for readings as well.

 

This forum software doesn't let you post BBcode, sadly it's a security risk now. You can use html! There is a code button in the toolbar (maybe not on the mobile site version which has less space). If you have a tablet and rotation is on, turn it horizontal on the input box and it will give you the full desktop input box (vertical gives you the mobile version). This forum software that the community crowdfunded to upgrade to, is powerful. It has plenty of options for changing colours etc. You can drag links, quotes and pictures around the input screen! You will get used to it 🙂

I’m going to play around with my iPad’s orientation, thanks for this info! I almost always have it vertical, so I’m gonna give that a go! Thank youuu again, you’re a star ⭐️

One option also is you can change your tablet browser view to "request desktop view". This will give you the insert code button but the site is optimised to the device you are using and may screw up how it looks for you. But that is also an option. Hopefully the horizontal input box works! (I've not tried it on iOS devices 😀).

• iPad, in vertical position: I do not see full input box (as we already knew)

• iPad, in horizontal position: I do see full input box! Yippee!
• iPhone, in vertical position: I do not see full input box (as expected)

• iPhone, in horizontal position: I do not see full input box (as expected, but was curious)

• There didn’t seem to be a difference when switching between mobile and desktop modes, which I experience frequently on iOS anyway lol

• Maybe something will look different/be different for others on their iOS devices, but this is what I personally see 🐰

I am glad you can do it on your tablet and there is a solution there!

When you are doing html in it and have your post, the paper icon with the corner turned gives you a preview before you post if you want to just check the final posting
