FindYourSovereignty Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) What a great, intense weekend of tarot! It was amazing! There were 78 (no kidding!) attendees and 4 presenters. The presentations were based on tarot and the brain, natural biases, and Rachel Pollack. There was a nice display with her Shining Tribe deck and some beautiful quote cards we could pull from to receive a special message from Rachel. The actual service is later today, Wednesday July 19. On Friday night Mary Greer opened the event with a Tarot Circle that is a reading version of speed dating. Very cool way to a) meet other attendees and b) play a tarot activity that proves anyone can read the cards without knowing anything about tarot. There were ten total readings and each reading had it’s own prompt on how to read the card - no book knowledge required or needed. Easy fun and a great ice breaker. Saturday morning Benebell Wen did a fabulous presentation on Theories in Neuroscience on Psychic Experiences and Tarot Techniques. She included the four elements and the I Ching. She has a book about the I Ching being released in September of this year. Saturday afternoon Siddharth Ramakrishnan did a segment on intuition, insight, and meditation. He created a Major Arcana deck: The Neuro Tarot. He also has a book coming out with Llewellyn on this topic in the future. Saturday night, Mary Greer presented on Intuitive Characters Within and natural biases. She had us break out into small groups of six and read on the same yes/no question with the same three cards, but different scenarios and sitters - one person in each group played a sitter. Mary assigned our characters. Some groups were assigned the same character. It was very interesting to hear how each sitter played their parts and where the focus went based on their choice as well as the path different readers went with the information provided. Great exercise. On Sunday Ellen Lorenzi-Prince did a very deep and personal presentation on The World card inspired by Rachel Pollack’s World card in The Shining Tribe Deck. She did two meditations that lead into activities to really embrace the Hero’s Journey and go even deeper on your personal growth once reaching the World card by using the elements in the four corners. It was incredible. She is teaching all this week with Mary. The last thirty minutes of each session was dedicated to panel questions. At the end of the last session, there were a handful of the Shining Tribe decks available and I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase one. Now that I understand the deck better, I am looking forward to reading with it from a whole new perspective. The manual is needed for learning and it seems to be, at least for me at this time, a deeply personal deck. 😊 The food was delicious, the tarot attendees were from all over the country and we had one woman from London. Readers at all levels including beginner to paid, and people from all professional backgrounds. The event was worth every moment and every penny. Yes, I will go back again in the future. ❤️ Edited July 19, 2023 by FindYourSovereignty Add links
Chariot Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Wow. I am consumed with jealousy! Two of my tarot heroes, Benebel Wen and Mary K Greer, at the same table! What a wonderful, informative weekend. Did you come away with any new friends you will be keeping in touch with at all? Any new insights into reading the cards that you can share with us?
Rupicapra Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Oh that sounds amazing @FindYourSovereignty! Super impressive! I'm glad you had a good time! Wish I could have been there too!
joy Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 How amazing this must have been @FindYourSovereignty ! Guess you still need time to process it sounds like a one of a lifetime experience!
Natural Mystic Guide Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Wow! How amazing that you could participate in this event. Big thanks for your descriptions and photos. It really gives us a sense for the event. I hope that you love your Shining Tribe. I treasure mine -- it is signed by Rachel. I have sort of a love hate relationship with the deck. I worked very closely on a daily basis with the deck for more than a year and never felt that I could master it well enough to be able to read with it for clients. It felt like a very subjective deck from the creator. It is my go to deck for dream interpretation.

My feelings exactly and I have the Wise Woman Tarot so I released my first copy of The Shining Tribe. They are completely different, but for me, held a similar purpose of deck purpose - why I would be reading with them or types of reading I would use them for. Anyway, one time during my “‘I have too many decks’ phases I released it. I look forward to giving it another try. Thank you for sharing that you use it for dream interpretation. I can see this being a good deck for that. pacificwaters Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Thanks for sharing your experience @FindYourSovereignty What an experience it might have been.. Wow!! I am so jealous that you got to see these stalwarts in flesh and skin 🙂
FindYourSovereignty Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 @Eric13, yes, it does! 😊 Here are a couple more photos. The group one is not clear who everyone is, but it gives you an idea of the space. I went through some of my notes of things that were shared during the Q&A. A tarot reading has been described as a ‘rehearsal for life’. End readings with one of these types of questions or include them in the spread layout: How do you transfer what was learned in this reading into your life in the real world? What can the querent do now in order to improve this situation? ‘5’ in the suits was the highpoint of the suit. The marriage card - consider the wedding vows 2+3=5. Court cards are very opinionated. Court cards share the attitude and/or the approach to take. Everyone highly recommended James Wanless. Benebell did a reading where we combined the tarot binary with the I Ching to pinpoint a specific energy. I am going to go through the notes and maybe anyone interested in trying it could join me.
Guest Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Looks like it was so much fun. Would recognize Benebell anywhere!
