Rosanne Oakley-Browne, formerly of Aeclectic Tarot

People in this forum who were members of Aeclectic in the early 2000s might remember Rosanne.

By chance, I discovered today that Rosanne died in this life on 15 May 2021.  She was 72.

She was a very kind, funny and artistic New Zealander who discovered Tarot almost alone and became hugely knowledgeable

about it.  She had a particular interest in early European decks, and I think she may have even designed a deck of her own.

She was a loved and significant figure at ATF and in Tarot Perspectives, another forum established around 2006/7.  I met her at the Tarot

Conference in Melbourne in 2005.  In person, she was a warm and delightful character.

Looking through some of her old ATF posts, I found this one which was so typical of her contributions to all of us at ATF in those times.
Someone had asked how to use cards in meditation.

"I have two ways of meditating upon a card
1st way is to put the card at eye height and slowly imagine yourself stepping into the card as if through a doorway. Then close your eyes, and with your mental eye look around- ask some mental questions if you like. If the image starts to fade, open your eyes and look at the card again, and re-set yourself inside the card. Listen to any sounds you hear for example the dog barking etc. Ten minutes is usually my limit- but time passes fast.
2nd Way is to read out aloud a poem or some paragraph slowly. Loud enough for your ears to hear yourself speak. When you have finished reading-close your eyes and think about what you have heard by reading and allow images to come to mind. If for example the colour yellow comes up and you find your minds eye at, say the beach and no Fool is there- that is OK just go with the images that come to you.
Here is a prayer on the Fool- the guided visualisation is far too long for me to type.
The Fools Invocation
I am a ray of light in search of myself...
My head aloft, I wander the Earth, a Fool.
I chose to come here-
in a timeless moment of forgetfulness,
I must refine my vision as I walk this path of return.
But the precipice yawns before me
I can fall into this gaping chasm.....
but I know that thy hand will steady me.
May I always remember my Divine origin,
A pure spirit, forged in the holy fire:
poised, vigilant, awake-
I am now ready to overcome obstacles
that are there before me.
I hope you find what you want!~Rosanne

Oh, that is sad news 😢

I often exchanged with Rosanne - in my early days on AT.

I loved her reading style.

In later years I did not often see a post from her.....

Oh damn. I remember her from both those forums and others.  She was awesome. I will never, ever, forget her reading where there was a bee on the card and later that day when she went to get her mail, the bees that had swarmed into her mailbox stung her horribly and she just laughed and said how predictive can you GET ? And she was also so hot on history.

Oddly enough I was asking about her here just the other day - thank you  Mollycat, for letting us know. If anyone knows about any deck she created - please let us all know. She certainly did cards for the Tarot Perspectives collaborative decks - I must find those and look at her work. She also did them for the AT decks - but those don't show up easily in the deck list there....

I cannot remember if I crossed paths and times with Rosanne on Aeclectic, I might have joined too late but still a loss.

Thanks for posting this beautiful tribute to her @MollyCat ❤️🙏

Mi Shell, Gregory and Daniel....

Thanks for your affectionate and respectful responses to the memory of Roseanne.

I read our old emails again last night and wished I was back in those days with the knowledge and experience I have now.

Rosanne definitely was planning a deck of her own but I don't know what happened with that.

We had a discussion about the possibility that the Marseilles was a clever occult protest about the authoritarianism of the Church of those times. We also chatted about esoteric Christianity.

It might be worth mining the old Aeclectic  for her ideas, but that was such a long time ago and she would probably laugh at that.

Rosanne had a bright mind, active curiosity and delightful humour and creativity. We were lucky to have met her through Tarot.  She said she joined ATF because she wanted a spiritual connection with others as much as the Tarot connection. She gave all of us both those experiences. 💗

Thank you; done. If I can remember my login on the history forum, I'll post it there too.

ETA I did and I have.

@legendaryelement I remember her birthday. Why do you want to know?

I use birth cards to see how people are drawn together and how relationships go. I frequented several threads in AT sub-forums where she posted. I don’t need the actual date information, if you would prefer to just let me know what her Birth Card was from that chart I attached previously.

I think it would be the 10 of Hearts.

Thank you! That is actually a significant card in my Life Path chart.
