TekkieTarot Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Would anyone like to share their experience with the king of swords? What have you seen him pop up for in your readings. For the longest I hated to see the king of swords but now that I’ve become a bit familiar with him. He’s not so cold like I thought. I have seen him come out for great communication and conversations. Someone who’s really smart. And a doctor but surprisingly this doctor wasn’t all detached. He was very kind and empathetic which shocked me since the king of swords was his card lol. But I really wonder what has the king of swords shown up for in other people’s reading. I don’t get him too often so I’m really curious. And maybe I can take note of some interpretations. 😊
Renie Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 (edited) In your situation , the King of Swords showed such qualities as a willingness to help, support, protect. These qualities are also inherent in him🙂 The King of Swords is a purposeful, determined person. He is ready to fight to win. His motto is the end justifies the means and winners are not judged. He never doubts that he's right. He is a perfect manager, organizer and tactician, this helps him to see and control the whole situation. He can to be easy-to-talk person. However, personal relationships can to be difficult with him, especially with people who depend on him. If you come into conflict with him, you can see him as hard, authoritarian and even rude. But he will never offend someone who is weaker. It's just not interesting to him. He will rather protect those who need help. And he does not betray those who trusted him. He actually likes to fight for justice. At the same time, he decides himself what is good and what is evil. He can make quick decisions and he act decisively. And often his actions are destructive. Because Swords also are the energy of destruction. And like any hard person, he is a little sentimental. He is almost indifferent to comfort and can be quite ascetic. If he surrounds himself with expensive things, it is only to maintain his “royal status”. He is smart, because Swords are also the energy of the mind. He is intelligent and prudent. He is an excellent specialist in his field. A typical example of the King of Swords is Arnold Schwarzenegger's Conan the Barbarian🙂 These are the personality traits of the King of Swords. In my spreads, the King of Swords also can indicate an official, a military man, a policeman, a doctor (especially a surgeon). Edited August 20, 2023 by Renie
zadey Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Storyteller, Communicators, Logic - these are the initial words that pop up in my mind when I think of the Kings of swords. Let's assume that you have a gathering to attend. When we're about to enter the room, we hear a distinctive but clear voice of a person talking and laughing among the other chattering sounds, that's the King of swords (if has a heavy Gemini [Mercury] and/or Libra traits). King of swords says, "Listen to me talking!". As opposed to the King of wands (if has a more Leo trait), who wants to be the center of attention whether they're talking or sitting quietly, the King of sword wants to be the center of attention though the talking that they do. They won't like it at all if no one listens to them. [I really want to see these kings fighting and struggling to be the center of attention, hehe]. In fact, they're distinctive and loud that one cannot ignore them. You'll find their words, the sound of their voice falling on your ears, entering in your logical mind. They're boisterous, they're always eager to talk and share about the newest topic, the newest gossip or the newest thing they recently learned. They want people to learn about things from them only, and not anyone else. Lets say, you already heard a news from someone else and then you meet this king of swords and tell them, "Oh, I already know about it from this Joe, he told me already", this King of swords will unnoticeably pause, just for a sec, then try hard to add to the news that you heard from Joe. In fact, if you converse with them, you'll notice whenever they're taking a pause, they're thinking about what to say next. So, they can talk about anything that's under the Sun and that's why they make good friends if you like communicating and knowing about what's going on around you. But here's the thing, they'll talk about what they know, what's on their mind but not what's in their heart. They're not romantically expressive. If your love language is the words of affirmation, naah! you won't get to listen from them. In fact, they'll be your friend and they'll be everyone's friend. Its hard to know who this King of swords likes romantically. If they do like you, they'll do a lot of talking with you (more than they usually do) and you'll start to notice subtly. And out of nowhere they'll confess, just the three words and that's it! Lastly, they don't like to stick to one topic or one person. They want to talk about X number of topics with X number of people! Whether you're an introvert, ambivert or an extrovert, you don't have to worry about awkward silence because they'll be the one talking if you do run out of topics to talk about. lol
Jasmine Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I don't feel drawn to King of Swords types as a romantic partner. I found them too cold in relationships, approach situations too logically for my liking and were unable to give emotional support which is important to me. I do appreciate them as friends or coworkers though. They can be funny, quick witted, smart and good communicators. Also, like their sense of fairness and justice, their mental strength. They tend to be very honest and don't sugarcoat the truth lol.

You have given me some new perspectives of the king of swords. Yes definitely smart. I had the king of swords represent a friend of mines once who was very tech savvy and my computer had got a virus and he tired to fix it. He wasn’t able to but he was checking out stuff I had no idea existed!!! However, he wasn’t emotionally supportive. Definitely wasn’t the shoulder I could cry on type of guy lol. I got this card now for my crush when I asked who he is as a person. He’s a libra but he’s sooo nonchalant. I’m definitely gonna save this post. I appreciate you sharing your experience with this card!!!

DanielJUK Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 This King can be great at making arguments and discussing things, they probably have strong opinions! They can be really quick witted and make funny jokes, good lines in an instance (the opposite though is they can make cutting negative remarks as well) His archetype he is known for is a judge. So he is always fair and balanced, the decisions he makes are the right ones. So he doesn't make decisions based on emotions (Cups) or security / the material (Pentacles). Very objective and rational. He probably isn't inspiring and charismatic (Wands). They probably want to talk about global news, science or some specialist subject. They are probably a professional with a high level of educational qualifications. One thing I have known about them is they can come across quite cold, but they really do not show romance or emotions. They can be deeply caring though and have a warm heart but you never know what they are feeling about something. They can have a high level of authority and power. They are very good at making difficult decisions and problem solving but can be very stubborn and won't change their decisions / views when they have made them. With love, you get great conversation and jokes but they may spend too many hours in their professional job (and might want to talk about it a lot!). You might not be put first. They probably won't show romance but might still care for you. I have noticed that they are choosy about who they get close with, so it's a positive to get close to this King as they have all kinds of Swords barriers to push people away. They have a very interesting inside if you can get beyond that. The negative of them is they can be very manipulative with their intelligence. Especially if you read reversed cards, they can be cruel and overly critical. As advice or not representing a person. This might be saying to consult an expert or professional in the field, someone who knows their stuff for a educated opinion. It is also about making decisions by being fair, objective and rational. It's about using logic and thinking it through. Only base things on the evidence you have. It's about being fair and thinking of the consequences of everyone involved.
Renie Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) Any King is the master of his power, he is free to use it. He can do whatever he wants with this. The King of Swords is the master of aggressive (martial , destructive, overwhelming) force. This power can be physical, social , mental... In the case of mind power, this is the Occam's razor. And since he is the King, he can use that power however he wants. He can use this power not only to attack, but also to defend. Therefore, if he wants to save, rescue and protect you, he will be perfect in this way too. (English is not my native language, maybe sometime I can't accurately convey some of the nuances of the meaning, sorry for that. If you have some question i will do my best to clarify🌹). Of course he's not a romantic partner. But if you are a romantic partner for him, he will do everything to protect your ideals, and will do everything so that you feel happy and no one offended or hurt you. One example of such a relationship is the movie The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. Ladies, if your friend is the King of Swords, be careful🙂. He can destroy the whole world just so that you have a place where you plant your daisies that inspire you to write romantic poems😇. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say It". This is also the phrase of the King of Swords, provided that he believes that you are worthy of it. Of course, these are all the basic characteristics that a person of this type uses according of his moral standards, personal development and education. By the way, the ideal partner for the King of Swords is the Page of Cups🙂 Edited August 22, 2023 by Renie
Chariot Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) Here is The Everyday Enchantment Tarot's version of the King of Swords/Blades. The Everyday Enchantment Tarot is great for illustrating how tarot cards can operate in the real world. And here is the King of Swords/Blades in action. He's prosecuting a law case, obviously has done his backup work, and seems to have the verbal ability to state his case and keep everybody listening intently to him as he makes his points. He is a master at both communication and intellectual observation. He has the mental acuity to put 2 and 2 together and get 4, and he doesn't hesitate to make his points clearly, thoughtfully, and forcefully if need be. He is probably fair-minded, but is apt to stand aloof from personal and emotional involvement in situations, and take the overview. He can argue from a disinterested point of view, and enjoys intellectual sparring and debates. He can also be persuasive, simply because his logic is sound. He's a good person to have at your back, but I wouldn't want to be on the other side of the table from him, because he won't bend to anything BUT logic. Trying to intimidate him won't work, cries for mercy won't work, trying to soften him up won't work, appealing to his better nature won't work. If he knows he's right, he won't budge. He won't be vindictive—unless the card is badly aspected, or perhaps reversed—but he will be firm. The only way you can shift him would be to present him with facts and figures which disclose a hole in his argument, or his research. He will pay attention and adjust accordingly, probably without rancor. He IS open to subtle manipulation from others, however, but only via his sense of curiosity and his love of intellectual challenges. Get him intrigued or baffled, and you'll have his attention—you can even sidetrack him!—and you may be able to change his mind. Here in this picture he's a lawyer, but he could easily be the judge in the case as well. The King of Swords/Blades would be able to sift through what was said and presented, and come to a correct decision based on the law. Edited August 25, 2023 by Chariot

November Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Hi, this is my experience with the King of Swords so far: Positive meanings - Generally it's about a person who's neutral and fair in their judgement, they follow the rules and give you rational/objective advice. They use their mind and only do the right thing; they see and say things for what they are (for better or for worse), so they don't let their emotions influence their decisions - It also happened to represent a professional (a professor) giving me all the necessary information I was looking for Negative meanings - It can represent a cold person, emotionally detached, but also someone very angry at you hurting you verbally - It also happened to represent arguments where you react badly and just blame those around you I hope this helps.
