Hello! I'm so glad to have found this community. I've dabbled in a personal reading here and there for years and have just gotten really into learning and practicing tarot. I'm really looking forward to being able to interact with other people who are interested in tarot as there aren't really many of these in my life right now. I'm also queer, and interested in ways people are queering the tarot and dealing with the gender divide/binary in traditional tarot cards/readings.

Hello 👋

Welcome to the community.

Do you have a favorite deck?

I am new here also but there is a deck library here worth looking at.

Hello Elizastarr,

the binary tradition struck me as outdated at first too, but now I think that these are just archetypes. And we modern people can handle any Rider Waite Smith Deck as such. Moreover, I think the descriptions (or say, meanings) are more diverse than the cards look. Context often is important as well.

Be that as it may, there are many decks that are on the feminine side, there are women only decks, gay decks, and everything in between.

A big example is the recently deceased Rachel Pollack, as a trans person who made the transition in the 70s.

I am pretty sure sure you will feel good here in this very open, friendly, and warm hearted forum.

Thanks everyone!

@Apple in answer to your question - I’m still in search for my favourite deck. I like the This Might Hurt deck by Isabella Rotman, but I feel like it’s quite hard for me to connect with it sometimes. What deck do you favour?

@elizastarr

I'll have to check that one out.

At the moment im into the light seers deck. It seems to focus on healing.  I'm big on healing. My fav will likely change as I grow and explore.

I'm excited for you to find a great deck to connect with

Welcome! May I suggest the Fyodor Pavlov tarot, it has beautiful artwork with some queer sexuality (in the RWS deck format). I love the artwork style, and the whole deck is so beautifully presented - linen-finish cardstock, gilded, and a lovely, thoughtful hardcover colour guidebook.

Thanks for the recommendation @Saffron that deck does look beautiful!

It's worth discussing the type of decks you are looking for in our deck section and you might get replies and suggestions. Not all members look through the introductory area.

There are many decks with queer and non-binary themes now and my advice is always to go for the decks that match your tastes and artistic favourites. You cannot go wrong if you like the artwork style already.

The Fyodor Pavlov tarot was self-published but now a mass-market deck by‎ U.S. Games, so easy to get from any book chain 🙂
