as i’ve been getting into cards, i know some other people also read their cards as reversed when they come out facing outwards. i was wondering if that’s just a preference or what your guys thoughts about it i think that’s pretty cool it can have a double meaning

What do you mean @katelunee about facing outwards? Some people deliberately shuffle decks so there are some reversed cards in the deck. There are different methods of reading those reversed cards, like the opposite meaning, blocked energy or delayed things happen. Some decks even have set reversed meanings. There are a number of threads about using reversals, really it's just personal choice in a reading 🙂

Hi Katelunee!

I think it is a personal preference for using reversals and giving cards different meanings if they face towards you or away from you.  What you will find over time and practice is that even the same card facing the same way might have a dramatically different meaning based on the question being asked, the spread being used, and what other cards are in play.  It is such a fun game of both study and intuition, to learn to interpret tarot cards.  🙂

Hi Katelunee!

I agree with Laurelverse - I have always seen reversals as a personal preference for the reader. For myself, I don't see reversals of the exact opposite of the original meeting of the card - rather I see a reversal as the deck saying there is a lesson that needs to be learnt through that card OR that there is anxiety or fear around that card meaning. In the end, decks have so much variety and expression that I don't use reversals too much in my practice!

I feel that just like the duality of things, reversed cards can also be seen as a form of opposition, negativity, or a deeper meaning, which enriches the diversity of tarot cards and allows for a more varied perspective on issues.
