8 of wands

Hi!!! I was just wondering if people could share their experience with the 8 of wands  I’m really trying to broaden my view on this card. Because when I see this I think communication, movement and being busy. 
 

So I’m wondering what else could it show up for outside of that?
 

Once I pulled this card when I did a reading for a friend when she was asking about communication from someone, got this card and thought it meant she would communicate with them, but she never heard from them and still haven’t lol.

 

But I was just curious what others have seen this card for.

I can't comment on the friend's reading as this is a general interpretations area, but it's interesting to look at the other cards / positions in a reading, context can change everything in a reading.

 

I see this card comes up in readings a lot for travel, especially flying / travelling by air. I see it a lot in readings as well representing the internet and instant messaging. It seems to be one of the biggest internet cards.

 

The Wands are blossoming in most deck images, showing growth. They shoot through the air like arrows, this shows the movement / swift change / travel aspect.

The Communications/ internet comes from the idea of fast communications with it or maybe like a travelling telegraph.

 

In RWS and other decks, you have a nice landscape in the picture, clear skies (some of them had bad weather and clouds), and a nice river with grassy hills in the bottom of the image. This is like freedom to explore or do whatever you want in this area, a swift change to the better. The negative though is that if you make a bad decision, this card can also accelerate that as well!

"The card represents motion through the immovable-a flight of wands through an open country; but they draw to the term of their course. That which they signify is at hand; it may be even on the threshold. For me, the 8 of Wands is usually a neutral card, whether it's upright or reversed.

I usually read the upright card to mean something is happening quickly, events are speeding up, news is fast approaching, communications have been sent, etc.  I know some people read the 8 of Wands upright, as 'good news' or 'good' events are on the horizon.  However, I just see that card as meaning 'news' and 'events are on the immediate horizon and moving fast.'  Whether the news or events will be what you hoped for depends on the other cards in the spread. 

I tend to read the reversed card as 'no news' or 'events seem stuck, or slow-moving.'  At present there are delays, obstacles, general non-communication.  If you are eagerly awaiting your exam results, for example, the upright card will indicate they are on their way. If the card is reversed that means you'll be waiting a while, as there is a hold-up of some sort.  The upright/reversed card won't indicate whether you passed the exam or not!  🙂  

That's just the way I interpret the 8 of Wands in a 'mundane' reading.  Other readers, of course, will see the card differently.

I've never seen wands as communication. Much more, as you say, about speed - and also abbot knowing when to use yoru energy and when to conserve it to get the fastest results (sometimes slower is faster.) Reversed I might see as a suggestion not to push so hard, or that you are getting complacent and slowing down, therefore.

As you do, I typically read this as lots of communications, errands, or busy-ness in general. Emails, phone calls, negotiations, running errands. In love things happening quickly [maybe too quickly!]

 

As with all cards ... 8 wands means one thing in a business question, another in a romantic context, etc. etc.

 

Vis a vis your friend's situation ... in in family dynamics or emotional process spreads I've had 8 wands show people keeping things on the surface level and using busy-ness to AVOID communicating. The "busy excuse" scenario comes up where people actually need to communicate on a much deeper level ... but they use surface distractions and busy-ness to put it off.

Hi, I haven't read the other users' response, but I'd like to share what the 8 of Wands has meant for me over the years.

 

- In a context of communication this card referred to chat groups & texting, another time it was telling me my order was in its way to me

- In a more general sense it stood for short-lived events and things happening & evolving very fast

- In the context of Covid it represented the virus fast spreading as well as the mass vaccination

- In the context of job search it was about sending/receiving many CVs

- in the context of love it represented someone making advances to someone else

 

As advice it happened to mean many things according to the context:

- to channel all my energy and efforts into the right direction

- to chat more with people in general

- to express clearly my intentions

- to do more sport and get some exercise

- to grab an opportunity very quickly, if I didn't want to miss it

- to take it easy, because I was going too fast

- to avoid to attack people verbally

- to not let anxiety take control of my thoughts

 

In more ''negative'' contexts instead it underlined:

- my difficulty in controlling my thoughts, especially negative ones

- verbal attacks & insults from other people

- being in a rush, thus doing things without thinking them through before and regret it

Some minutes ago I was impatiently waiting for my doctor's message on WhatsApp, so I asked my cards when he would've texted me back and I pull the 8 Wands: I got his message exactly at that moment! 😂
