Rediscovering my love of tarot

Recommended Posts

Hi, y’all. I bought my first tarot deck about 22 years ago (that hurt to type, LOL), and fell in love with reading the cards. For a time, I was active in a local group that met monthly, and even had a deck collection going, although I’ve since pared down that collection to my favorites. I haven’t been as good about consistently doing readings the last few years, so I’m trying to get back into the habit of at least pulling a COTD, to keep my practice going.

I’ve mostly only read for myself. I appreciate tarot as a mindfulness exercise, a meditative moment for reflection and insight that I think is so good for mental health. My goals are to study the symbolism of the cards more in-depth, but also to read more intuitively.

I’ve got a strong preference for RWS-style decks. Some of my favorites are the Touchstone Tarot, Tarot of the Divine, and Llewellyn Tarot. And I just picked up the Rainbow Tarot by So Lazo and love it…I think that one is going to break into my top 3

I look forward to reading your posts. 😁

Welcome to the community @ChaliceFlame 😀:78496::animated-smileys-signs-085: I'm glad you have kept your practice going and doing readings. I should do mindfulness readings with the cards, that is a great idea

Thank you! I would argue that all tarot readings you do for yourself could be mindfulness exercises, if you do them with focus and intent to be in the moment. 😁 There is something so centering about doing a reading, especially if you journal it. One of my favorite simple spreads is the 3-card mind/body/spirit, because it’s like a “check-in” with yourself.

I think you are really right about this. I suffer from generalised anxiety and I have to be careful of reading too much on myself. But reading for others is a form of mindfulness for me as I am thinking about someone else's life and working out the reading, it gives my mind a break from thinking about my life. But I should do more check in spreads on myself, you are inspiring me :classic_laugh::thumbsup:
