I get having a preference. I even get deciding not to read reversals if the back gives it away. Everyone has their preferences and that's cool!

I just don't understand the idea that a deck can't have reversed meanings in the book, while also having non-reversible backs. Like, maybe just don't use that part of the book. 😸

Thing is that if you don't want to see which cards are reversed before you draw the,/ turn them over, reversible backs are kinds of important. I don't use reversals except when I have to for some reason - but I still much prefer non reversible backs; I THINK I may have been one of those who asked for that change. The book is another matter - yes, if you don't use reversals, don't read that part - or read it but ignore it.

@Laura Borealis I don't care if I know how a card will be turned, not all reversals are bad.  I have decks with scenic backs that indicate an reversed card, but I won't know what that means if a card until the card is actually flipped.

I have had reversible backs where the author only gives upright interpretations.  I have difficulty not reading with reversals because contextually I can't always tell whether the positive meaning is applicable or the negative.  I'm very old school that way.

I think they are better for people who only read upright as well, you can't see if a card as randomly turned around which might be important in their reading. They are better for shuffling for all 🙂

I always 'deal' my cards rather than pick them out of a fanned deck, so it really doesn't matter to me what the backs look like.  If I had to pick cards from a fanned deck, though, a reversed back might influence my choice one way or another.  I always use reversals, but this is an aspect I hadn't considered until now.
