Whisper Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 I absolutely love Tarot. Absolutely love Tarot cards that are larger than the average. My favourite larger sets are: [glow=red,2,300]Rohrig Tarot[/glow] [glow=green,2,300]The Druidcraft Tarot[/glow] and [glow=orange,2,300]The Journey into Egypt[/glow] Does anyone else fee like I do about large Tarot cards? Would love to hear from you and your favourites. I'm always looking for new, beautiful, even unknown sets. :)
RavenOfSummer Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 I also like large cards! :D There's a beautiful majors-only deck that is VERY large...I have it and I would say it's maybe about twice the size of the Druidcraft etc. It's the Tarot de l'Ange Liberte. The artwork is just breathtaking and the large size really does it justice, although it makes the deck quite unwieldy to read with. You can see images on the creator's website here. The Celtic Wisdom, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful decks ever, is very large. Some images here although these scans don't really do the cards justice. If you're including oracles...the Druid Animal and Plant Oracles are both big. Also the indie first edition of Flowers of the Night. There's a second edition being released soon, and I'm not sure what the size of the new edition will be.
Flaxen Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 The largest cards I have are the MAAT tarot - the large size does the stunning art justice. They are beautiful to look at but a bit tricky to shuffle.
Page of Ghosts Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 The US Games Visconti (not sure which though, they are so many!) is gigantic. I prefer decks I can shuffle comfortable so super large cards is not for me. For a deck I would just admire the art of I would consider the XXL size ;)
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 I think Inner Child was the biggest card size I've had. https://smile.amazon.com/Inner-Child-Cards-Fairy-Tale-Tarot/dp/1879181827/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516478142&sr=8-1&keywords=inner+child+cards+a+fairy+tale+tarot
sandrang123 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Lovers Tarot, my largest. I did also have a large version of Visconti-Sforza but I gifted that to my sister at some point (though the deck was beautiful...)

Same for Flowers of the Night! Had never seen either of these.

Whisper Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 Lovers Tarot, my largest. I did also have a large version of Visconti-Sforza but I gifted that to my sister at some point (though the deck was beautiful...) I saw these once. They were really big.
Whisper Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 It's surprising how few large sized decks there really are. You know, the size of the Druidcraft or The Journey into Egypt. The images are so much clearer and dramatic when the cards are a little larger. As I said previously, I am sorry I can't buy the large MAAT anymore. Anyway, if any other larger decks crop up, even from other countries, perhaps you would post them here? Thank you. Going to see if I can order the Tarot de L'Ange Liberte...

I did also have a large version of Visconti-Sforza but I gifted that to my sister at some point (though the deck was beautiful...) I saw these once. They were really big. I know! You do have to shuffle them differently, though because they are a majors-only deck, it's not too bad.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I absolutely love HUGE Tarot cards. Love love love them. The bigger the better. ❤ The biggest I have are prolly the 25th Anniversary Edition of the Enchanted Tarot by Zerner and Farber, and the Madenié Tarot de Marseille Set by Mary Packard. I noticed that Race Point Publishing loves putting out these beautifully-packaged Tarot kits with humongous cards, it's like their signature.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 The US Games Visconti (not sure which though, they are so many!) is gigantic. For a deck I would just admire the art of I would consider the XXL size ;) The Visconti Sforza and the Cary-Yale Visconti by USG are both BIG with very useful LWBs. I'm definitely going to get them one day. The Meneghello versions of both decks are about the same size. They may be more expensive, but their quality matches their price.
Lantana Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 The large cards I know of are the Mary El (though perhaps its just that it has oversized borders), the Collective Tarot, and of course the Next World Tarot. I don’t mind if a deck is big if the art is detailed and lush, because I’d much rather be able to see it then have another Shadowscapes problem on my hands. (Oh how I wish they’d release a HUGE version of that deck...)
Guest Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 The large version of the Roerich Tarot - LOVE. Nice thick stock too, which I adore, especially for bigger cards. There's also the Nature Spirit Tarot - big and beautiful!

That always saddened me about the Shadowscapes: the fact that the cards are much too small for us to be able to appreciate all the beautiful art.

Mitsuraki Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I like huge cards, but they do annoy me a little because I love a good riffle shuffle and even though I have large hands, they aren't large enough. I second the 25th Anniversary Enchanted Tarot as being rather large. The Pokemon tarot I got recently is about the same length. The Snowland Tarot Deck is also quite large, in that it's probably druidcraft length but MUCH wider. There's also the Sirian Starseed Tarot that's longer and wider than a normal deck. I have a few others that are larger than standard size, but I wouldn't consider them large, per se.
Whisper Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 The large version of the Roerich Tarot - LOVE. Nice thick stock too, which I adore, especially for bigger cards. There's also the Nature Spirit Tarot - big and beautiful! I have the R, but hardly use it. I think it's very hard to get, now, so I'm trying to preserve it. It is gorgeous. So glad you love it, too. Just looked at the images of the Nature Spirit Tarot. They are lovely. Thank you for this discovery. :)
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 As per its page in the USG site, the Cary-Yale Visconti measures a whopping 3.65" X 7.75" WOW! That's more than double the area of the average Tarot card! I wonder how big the recently-released Univeral Tarot - Professional Edition is tho. All the sites I've encountered list the box size as around 4.5" X 8", yet there's no word on the size of the actual cards. There was a previous release in 2009, but I think the box then was smaller and the whole deck is lighter, so the cards were also smaller, I think.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 To those who love em BIG, here's a nice list: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/large-size-decks.shtml It's very incomplete tho, as I think it has not been updated since last year, among other reasons.
