Iepure_luna Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 These two cards share a lot of similarities, they both represent a union, harmony, partnership (romantic or not), choices and etc. But what are the differences of these two cards? As a newbie I can't really tell. And I saw it on some other forum that the development of the relationship in 2 of cups is more passive than the lovers, but it will last longer. I'm wondering where is this conclusion coming from? Also what is your idea about these two cards?
Misterei Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Lovers is a very complex card as the Trumps can be. Most people agree 2 cups is about romantic love [in most cases] Lovers can be about many different things ... some readers see Lovers as a romantic card. I don't. I see it as a choice. Lovers relates to Alchemical marriage ... and 2 cups may touch upon that in a very light way ... but now we're getting into some deep waters for a forum post!
shadowcatto Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 I'm still learning about this but I do tend to think of the Lovers as representing choice - especially pivotal ones that affect self and your closest loved ones, and the 2 of Cups as affection, attraction, and romance. For me, the Lovers-choices connection is about identity and growth of an individual in a relationship (may not be romantic, but has to be significant and fundamental one): does the relationship affirm the individuals' core values, what choices are they called to make for themselves as their own selves, as well as lovers? This card for me encapsulates the harmony but also the internal and external conflict, negotiation, and commitment, etc that comes with relationship building.
