Introduction but also a strange question

To anyone who reads this, hello. I'm just going to dive right in here... I am very very new to tarot. I just got my first deck a few weeks ago from my someone who was very important to me. Anyway I did a little bit of research and have been doing daily card pulls to get acquainted with my deck.  I learned about using meditation while holding the cards and using positive energy to cleanse them. So tonight I held my deck between my hands eyes closed thinking peaceful thoughts. Almost immediately I felt something different about me my surroundings the cards everything... without my knowledge I said (out loud) "I call upon the power within my self and of the universe" I felt (and am still feeling it some hours later) this almost overwhelming surge of euphoric energy, there was a light so bright that it blinded me (even tho my eyes were closed) and I heard a voice (I'mthe only one in my house besides my dog).... I couldn't make out what it said but I know I heard it. I'm more than a little concerned/confused about what just happened.... I would greatly appreciate any insight or help here please....

Tarot cards are just a tool to access our psychic side / intuition / subconscious, so the actual work going on comes from us. Either from ourselves, outside ourselves or from ancestors, depending on your beliefs.

I have found working with the cards and doing meditations and readings that I really get a strong connection to my intuition and sometimes hear voices in the same way. It's actually my voice with things in readings that I don't know. My theory about your experience is that it was just accessing this side of you and you had this wonderful experience! I wouldn't be concerned, you can always say something if it happens again, like an intention of protection or something like that. There are many resources on google about protection and grounding yourself.

 

You might want to post about your experience in the Spirituality area, you might get more insight than this area which isn't really the big area for discussions. Also why not read on your experience with tarot, see what it says to you?

Welcome @Jerry313 I was going to say something similar as DanielJUK. I often feel a greats sense of wellbeing when working with the cards or even just looking at them and reading about them. And I too believe it is because they connect us to our intuition, a form of knowledge that is often belittled in Western culture. I have also come to value the age and history of the cards, which connects us to the imaginative world of people who lived several hundred years ago. I think that's wonderful.

Welcome, @Jerry313, and what a beautiful experience. Like the others, I think you treated a symbol of your inner archetypes and source of wisdom with respect, and a door opened for you. I'd treat it as a sign that the tarot is the right tool for you, and continue to work with it. The truly magical thing is not the deck of cards itself but the inner world you can access. It's one of the reasons why I love the tarot. 

 

There are different paths for different people, but tarot is one of them. I wish you a productive and happy journey with the tarot.

I often have a warm feeling when going through a tarot deck.  Some decks I really connect to and others not so much.  It sounds that your having a positive experience, so keep up the good work.

This seems like a premonition or psychic vision on protecting your energy and self when tarot reading while connecting to others. Although I'd probably wouldn't hold the cards as you sleep and the claim seems to be a empathetic response what you're experiencing subconsciously also spiritually as a conscious being. Be patient and allow yourself to connect as you go forward to truly connect to your path. Goodluck! ☺️
