I'm curious if the judgement card represents karma? I was doing a reading for myself about a very painful event that happened to me when I was younger that will be with me for life. I asked 'why did I have to experience this event in my life?' So the first thing I thought about when seeing this card was karma. Do you agree with this? I mean I know the description says rebirth but that doesn't really make sense to me.

Do you feel you owe a karmic debt?  When it comes to something from the past, its about judging yourself.  Attonement and forgiving yourself for what happened or what you did.  In other words, let it go.  Drop the baggage.  You said it happened a long time ago.  I think you have probably paid your karmic dues.  It's another day now.  A new day.  You either choose to hang on to it or let it go.  Your a Phoenix  rising from the ashes now.  Your born again.  Justice is more of a karmic card.  Kind of like you get what you deserve.  What goes around comes around.  That sort of thing.  Judgement is "let it go".  Forgive yourself and dont' come back to it.  Your done with it.  Besides, never let the past influence you in the now.  The past is only memories.  You can't change it because it's no longer here.  it's gone.

So I need to let it go? Oh, that's hard. I feel like the situation was unjust for me. I'm the one who suffered but the other person who caused the pain gets to run free. That's why I think its karma from a past life. I don't feel I deserved it. And it hurts everyday. Letting go is hard but if its what I must do then so be it.

Perhaps it would help to consider the positive side of Judgement: a soul judged worthy of entering heaven would feel light, absolved, renewed and refreshed. Final glimpses of painful memories would be met with feelings of forgiveness and understanding as the soul was freed from burdens of earthly suffering to proceed, cleansed and pure, into the next stage.

Perhaps the event was the payment of a karmic debt from a past life. Even if so, holding onto the resulting pain cannot help you. Look closely into it, assess it, understand it, and Judge it. Let go of what doesn't serve. Be reborn.

Just some thoughts.

Thank you for that positive outlook. I'll try to see it that way from now on.

Rushing river, why do you you think earthly sufferings is something we have to experience on earth?

I've had to do a bit of reading up on Judgement to see where others have uncovered meanings for this card that could apply to your specific situation.

From Biddy Tarot:

In fact, you may find comfort in sharing your experiences with others and healing within a group environment. The key here is that there will be others who have experienced something similar to you and who can show you the way to freedom from your troubles. Let them guide you and help you.

Perhaps this is how you can reach a place of renewal and new beginnings, with the help of others who understand exactly where you've been and can help you move forward - because they are further ahead on that same path that you're walking.

Sometimes we just can't do things on our own and need others to help us.

I can't answer for Rushing River, but my take is that life is not a bed of roses. We have challenges, from everyday niggles to more serious traumas. And I don't believe anyone *deserves* what happens to them. Sometimes good people get badly hurt, perhaps because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or they trusted someone they shouldn't have. Or for other reasons.

The challenge is recovering from those events, and healing.

It sounds like you're at a place now where how you proceed can bring about a significant change in your life. Judgement is about rebirth and renewal and healing and the Christian belief in life everlasting (The Last Judgement) - those bodies are rising up out of their coffins, glad to be alive and well - and you now have the chance to invite this healing and sense of renewal into your own life.

Take good care of yourself, Star83. Many blessings to you.

Thanks starlight.

On a private note, the painful event almost led me to commit suicide at the time. But I loved myself too much. So I guess I agree that the phase coming afterward was like a new begi ning. A fresh start. Recovery after the hurricane.

I'm so glad you're here today, Star83. Self love and immense strength.

Perhaps a support group would be beneficial? Something to think about anyway. Or maybe counselling - sometimes speaking our pain out loud helps us to hear it properly.

I've done this for many years. It just prolonged the pain cause thats all i thought and talked about. But I think the only thing that has helped is being as realistic and logical as possible. I get bogged down with how I wanted and wish things could be. But I have to keep reminding myself that the person was not nice, did a mistake, and I simply must let go and move on. Wishing doesn't bring anything. So I plan to love myself more.

I look at Jesus and Buddha for answers to this sort of question. Both experienced great physical and emotional pain, but were freed by moving beyond this Earth, reaching Nirvana, going to heaven. They were still aware of the pain in themselves and the world, but they understood it from a higher, deeper point of view and were liberated from suffering. Judgement reminds me of that possibility. We can be condemned, yes, but we can also be freed.

Yup, I know exactly what you mean. It's all too easy to stay stuck in the trauma when that's all you focus on and talk about.

You were asking about meanings of the Judgement card, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you are in a difficult place any more because of that past trauma. You were simply curious about the meaning.

Hopefully everyone here has been able to bring something to the table that helps you. Take good care of yourself, Star83.

I think Judgement literally means judgement(also called karma) in this instance.

Also consider what certain symbols in the Judgement card might make sense in your context.

It may also symbolize positive judgement and self-forgiveness. It may be telling you that what happened doesn't matter in the long run, and you just need to let it go.
