Eugenie Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 As I am learning and trying the cards on anyone, like clothing, I suddenly thought that my Stafford was a textbook example of the Knight of Wands. He's charming, athletic, totally self-confident and fearless, always ready for adventures, will tackle what others avoid, rises to any challenge and is a loyal friend. On the negative side, he's hot-tempered, doesn't stop to think before acting, has self-control issues and too ready for a fight (of course he's not allowed to fight). I am still thinking about cats, they aren't as easy for me, but I think it will be a useful exercise for me to figure their cards. What about yours?
Raggydoll Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 My only pets are the occasional dust bunnies, and they resonate the most with the Fool card. Free spirits who never think of tomorrow 😁

Literally like dust in the wind, reminding us of the impermanence of life and the eternal cycle... you remove them with a vacuum cleaner, they disintegrate and later become part of soil... very symbolic.
Misterei Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Zoe is Queen of Cups. I mean for a cat ... she's still a vicious hunter and takes great joy in climbing trees and killing things. But she's affectionate at home. When I'm sad or in pain she seems to know and lie next to me. She had babies before I got her fixed. Now she licks my hand as if it were a dirty kitten. She'll pin it down to "clean" it. She likes Tarots and is interested when card reading is happening.
akiva Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 I'm lucky enough to share my life with two wonderful cats, Tinker and Billy Tinker is probably the Page of Cups, as you can literally carry him around like a baby and cuddle him and he'll just lay in your arms while you fuss him. He's my best friend (how sad it that 🤣) just like the POC can represent. The amount of nights we've been cuddled up on the sofa, him hiding under the blanket all cosy is innumerable 😍 Billy is The Devil. Always hungry, always wanting more, a complete tearaway who can't be told. He likes to think he's the boss of the household and always tries to find the highest spot to lord it over us! He's also very gobby and definitely lets you know what's up. He's always up for a play fight with Tinker (sometimes me or my slippers) too. Can't pick him up though, he'll karate kick you in the face 😂

Zoe was easy but I had to consider Ragnar. He's orange so you might think Wands ... but he's soooo mellow. Ragnar is King of Coins. He's lazy and likes to lay around. But he will go kill things. He's responsible to his cat duties of killing vermin };>

Billy couldn't kill anything if he tried, he has no teeth. He had a rare disorder that basically stripped the enamel off his teeth before he was even a year old. You can imagine the pain he was in... 🙁 The vet removed them and then his inner devil came out, which I absolutely love him for! He can do no wrong in my eyes. Though we can't have toys with feathers on them, he turns into the embodiment of The Tower and no one is safe... 😆

Mine have jobs to earn their keep. We have this huge avocado tree in the back yard and rats go with avocado trees. When we first bought our house we would lay awake hearing rats in the walls during the night. Very Edgar Allen Poe. Then Ragnar the rat killer arrived and killed his first baby rat when he was just a wee kitten. Zoe soon became a huntress, too. At the community there was a terrible rat infestation ... rats literally ate the wiring out of people's cars etc. etc. But our cars were safe. You're lucky, though. You can just enjoy your cats without finding dismembered rodents in your living room 🙄
Natural Mystic Guide Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Santi, Devil Dog. Card from the Playful Heart Tarot by Kittenchops
rylla Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 My Puffy (British blue cat) looks like a Devil (grey colored fur, strong built, his eyes seems like it would be red, especially in the evening). As a personality he is the Temperance. Calm, very adaptable to any situation, well advised, temperate. He can do well on his own, always searching for something, so it is a Hermit too. If I ad up 15+14+9=38 reduced is 11 = he is my Strength LOL
Eugenie Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 It is so lovely to read about everyone's pets! @Misterei, our cats saved us from rats at our summer house. We also had hordes of rats there and could not sleep, until we adopted WingChun. She's a tri-color cat born in that village in the mountains, we found her as a tiny kitten and kept her. She, jointly with my mom's Thai cat (name's Cat, lol), eradicated the vermin. And they were also bringing us bits and pieces to enjoy! @akiva, your cats are so lucky to have you! I am sorry to hear about those teeth issues, but Billy definitely lives his best life with you. One of our cats loves to sleep under the blankets, like Tinker, and the mere thought of this coziness makes me smile and relax. @Natural Mystic Guide, what a lovely dog! I would never believe that Santi is a Devil! That fur! I haven't petted a Poodle for ages... we don't have many in the city... @rylla what a cool description! And I am still thinking about mine, probably will write tomorrow. Time flies and it is already very late here.

Thank you 😊 there's something very relaxing/soothing when a cat cuddles up with you, it's such a sweet thing. They only do it with me though, not with my partner 😅 is that something you experience with your cats?

Our elder cat agrees to sleep with my husband, but she doesn't sit on his desk when he works the way she sits on mine and doesn't come to be petted. He sometimes feels a bit neglected by the cats. And all the cats want to claim me and my left arm as a pillow when I work. More or less like this (it is the youngest one called Betelgeuse).

Ohh so gorgeous! 🥰 They love cuddling at times when we are busy. What a name too, Betelgeuse. Never heard that before! 😁
Eugenie Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 @akiva, thank you very much! She's called that because I wanted a celestial name for her - because she's so white and seems to be glowing - and this was the only one that stuck. Although, of course, that is a Red Supergiant star and the name would be better on a large ginger cat, I know! anyway, she's Betelgeuse, and Betty for short, lol.

With a great meaning behind it too. We call Billy bilbo, or sometimes Mr Bibbles (don't ask why, it just stuck 😅) and tinker gets called stinker because, well... He was originally called Anu after the anunnaki god, but our friend kindly pointed out too close to anus 😆 Edited January 2, 2024 by akiva
Eugenie Posted January 6, 2024 Author Posted January 6, 2024 @akiva, pet names can be difficult, especially if you live in a multilingual community. There is always a possibility that a name will sound funny in one of the languages. Of course anus is basically multicultural being a Latin word, eh well. I was writing something in Uzbek in my Facebook recently and people said one of the words reminded them of oral sex. There's no helping that lol. At last I found a bit of time to sit quietly and think of all my cats. The elder one, WingChun, is obviously the Queen of Swords. She's open and straightforward as a dog; been everywhere, seen everything; hunted, fought (unfortunately in our summer house you can't prevent it due to the faulty infrastructure); she's extremely intelligent and learned to open all doors in our home so we have to lock them now. Sometimes I think she does it to drive me mad. She dislikes other pets and can be really bitchy about new ones. With all that, she's an amazing companion and warms my soul by her presence. We found her on the riverbank where our summer retreat is situated as a tiny flea ridden kitten with a tremendous will to live; she followed us, asking that we take her, and wasn't even afraid of my large dog. Lagertha is, I think, the High Priestess. She walks with an enigmatic flair and likes to be alone. Actually she thrives alone. She's not socially impaired and spends time cuddling with us, too, but a lot of time she's in her musings. She was found by some people on a busy and dirty street in Tashkent and followed them home (where she was beaten by their tomcat in the most cruel manner). I wanted a tabby cat so here she is. She's a tiny cat, really miniature, but she can be a ruthless hunter and fighter. However she's good at negotiating with strange cats; they never attack. She only has conflicts with our own WinChun. The small one was found in June 2023. I really didn't want any new cats, but someone stuck a tiny kitten in a box and put the box in the sun. Uzbek summer. Of course I had to get her out, she was emaciated and dehydrated but stuck to life like a Bull Dog. Thought of adopting her out but the family said she was too nice. Well, she's not "nice", she's a Tower for the other cats, because she takes food from them, completely unafraid of their teeth and claws, and claims attention of humans; she's a velcro cat, she wants to be with humans all the time. (I love social cats. But we don't have enough people to make them all happy. I live with my husband in the rural home outside Tashkent, and our daughter is mostly in the city because of her studies). The name of this disaster is Betelgeuse because we wanted a stellar/celestial name. She eats so much, I am afraid she might grow and explode one day (just joking; I have to limit her portions though so that she doesn't harm herself).
Guest Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 We have a pug who turned 11 last September, so he is quite old. Because of his age, he has problems with his eyesight, is losing a fair bit of the hair on his back, and is restricted to a special diet due to his kidneys. Like he can only eat one specific brand and flavor of formulated dog food, which can get quite expensive. Still, he is a charming and cuddly lil fella. He is rather fat and acts self-satisfied by default, so he reminds me of the portly noble in the Nine of Cups minus the arrogance. Hope that he can grant wishes too, like those Buddha statues when you rub their tummy lol.
Misterei Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 @Eugenie haha Tower kittie has CPTSD. She can't help it 😉

She can't help it 😉 Actually I thought of this, but she was so tiny when I found her, I really hoped she would grow out of these issues. It is hugely impolite of a cat to take another cat's food, and today she virtually tore a piece of meat from Lagertha's mouth. I had to catch her and take the meat away so that she doesn't get her encouragement (she had been feed, by the way).

If they follow the model of humans ... the earlier the trauma the more it's hardwired into their "personality". I don't know if we can apply human psychology to cats ... but she acts like it. Try energetic healing on her? Goddess Bast?
ilweran Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 I thought of the Tower first for Loki - he also has some trauma, though not from kittenhood.
