I've just discovered that one of my decks has a card missing - the Eight of Swords.

What should I do? It's a deck that I like a lot and use regularly.

I've no idea where the card could be. I take decks away from home sometimes so I can do daily draws while travelling so it may be it fell under a hotel bed somewhere 😞 Or it may be lurking in a dusty corner at home...

Should I still read with it? What are the issues with reading with an incomplete deck?

I think the "powers that be tarot" will make allowances for the missing card. But which deck is it - someone may have a spare card - or the publisher might.

If the deck is still in print then you could contact the publisher and ask for a replacement card

Ask deck where it is?

If you just bought the deck, contact the publisher or place you bought it, they will probably tell you to return it for an exchange. Always worth checking all the cards are there and counting them when you first unwrap a new deck. I am guilty of seldom doing this because I am raring to go with the deck! :classic_laugh:

If it's not new, contact the publisher, as everyone suggested here. Some are kinder to customers than others and will post out a card. I would go with a "I often buy decks from your brand" and try to show loyalty, you never know 🙂

Post in our missing deck thread, this is the slow method but this thread was created here by popular demand. Maybe another member can help sometime in future -

So annoying when you lose a card when you using the deck. I lost a card from an oracle I bought and was printed on Gamecrafter. I can't buy the deck again because customs would be too high now 🤣😭

Thanks for all the guidance 🙂

Much appreciated.

It's the Queer Tarot which I am currently using for my daily draws. I had a feeling something was missing and decided to do a quick check to find out and discovered that it was the Eight of Swords. I know the deck was complete when I got it so it's definitely gone astray somewhere.

I'll try a lost item spread and I will also ask my pendulum for help.

Next stage would be to contact the publisher and ask if they can send a single card.

Well, I first of all asked the pendulum, is the card in the house and the answer was No. I asked it, would I be able to find the card and the answer was No again.

So not looking hopeful

I found a spread on finding a lost item here: https://www.purplegarden.co/blog/tarot-spread-for-finding-lost-items

Card 1 (is it possible to find it) was the Hierophant, then 6 of Pentacles, Page of Swords, 7 of Swords, Ace of Pentacles and for the outcome Page of Pentacles. I wasn't able to get a clear answer but as the outcome was the Page of Pentacles I consider that it's at best a learning experience for me. The Seven of Swords might imply that someone picked it up.

I'll send a message to the deck publishers and see if they can send me a replacement. In the meantime I'll carry on using this deck but be aware that there may be something missing from any readings with it.

Thanks for all the guidance. I'll keep this thread updated when I hear from the publishers.

A good card method for finding lost items is on Kapherus' blog, if you have a deck of playing cards it works great, or just use a tarot deck minus the knights + majors.

There's also a numerology method, though I can't verify how accurate it is. It involves writing down 9 random numbers between 1 and 9. You could use a random number generator for this. Then looking up the sum total in the list of numbers and places given 😊

I would say the card is in some kind of "pinky" room (6/pents + A/Pents).

I've not used my cards in many places so the only options are:

1. at home

2. in a hotel room

3. in a café

I've never used this deck to read in a friend's home so these are the only options as far as I recall.

The Six of Pentacles could mean it's a place of employment (where people are getting paid as in the picture on the card) so possibly a hotel or café. The Page of Swords could mean young people work there, so likely the café, and the Seven of Swords might imply someone picked it up where I'd dropped it. The Ace of Pentacles could mean I dropped a coin there too.

That's my best guess from the cards dealt.

I don't see the Hierophant as a very positive card so not getting a message that it is likely I will find it again.

And as I said, the outcome of the Page of Pentacles means I learn a lesson about taking more care when out with my cards not to drop them and leave them. Though honestly I think I take good care of the cards and I'm very surprised I managed to drop one anywhere.

Interesting to use the colours in the cards as a clue but I can't imagine a pink room where I would have dropped it

I've been to loads of very pink cafes actually....

Gonna go out on a limb here....did any of the locations you visited with the deck have a religious or educational theme, perhaps even part of its name?
