Mercedes Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Can we talk about the Wheel of Forture! That is can be evil or sprintal. The four signs in the card. Thank you!
November Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 (edited) Hello, it always depends on the context.. In a more general sense this card reminds us we can't really control outcomes, change is a constant, nothing stands still, so we should go more with the flow. Edited February 7, 2024 by November
DanielJUK Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Hi @Mercedes, when you start a thread, it's worth thinking carefully about the topic of the thread you want to start. Members look through the activity feed at threads, so you need to reflect what the thread is about or members won't reply to you or find your discussion 😢. So I have changed your title here to the "Wheel of Fortune" and now we can all clearly see when scrolling, what the topic of this discussion is about 🙂 . I know you are learning to use the forum but a significant part of posting a discussion 🙂 .
DanielJUK Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 The imagery in this RWS card is quite complicated, so the basics - In the middle we have a wheel which is turning. Many religions and cultures believe in a "wheel of life" concept, the wheel keeps cycling whatever happens. Around the wheel are Hebrew letters for a name of God. Alternating with them are TORA or TARO (tarot) depending which way you read it. These letters represent Wisdom. The 4 creatures in the corners, represent the fixed signs of the zodiac, top left = Angel = Aquarius (Air), top right = Eagle = Scorpio (Water), bottom right = Lion = Leo (Fire) and Bull = Taurus (Earth). They all represent stability when change and movement is happening within the wheel. They each have a book in their hands, The Torah, gaining wisdom. On the left is a snake, it's supposed to represent Typhon, the Egyptian God of Chaos and storms, Anubis is on the right, the God of Death and cemeteries. At the top is the Sphinx. Waite is positive about this card and said it represented "Destiny, fortune, success, elevation, luck, felicity". It can represent a change for the better in the current situation. What's key for me with it, is that it's out of your control. Like you spin a roulette wheel in a casino, the outcome could be lucky and positive or you could lose money. You cannot control this outcome, just have to react to whatever happens. This card is very much about external factors affecting you but it's not about being passive and seeing what happens, you can take action to change things or react. This card also represents cycles, are life is full of cycles, some are bad times, some are good times, we have to cope with both of them! You can't stop the wheel because it could harm you when it's spinning, you can't change it, just have to see what it brings your way next. This card always reminds me of that quote, said to be from Heraclitus, "The only constant in life is change".

It hits with alot of Astrology with the plant's. Virgo has a big part in it. At times I feel. I just want to get off of this Wheel.

Say depression set in? For a couple of weeks. Not life threatening a whole lifestyle. EXAMPLE ,sleeping until 12 or 1. Soundly The wheel stop?

EXAMPLE ,sleeping until 12 or 1. Soundly The wheel stop? HI again Mercedes. Daniel gave you a very generous and detailed description of the parts of this image, which you asked for. The people I've encountered in my short time here have been very nice and patient and kind, and the cards can be fun. It's common to use the cards for self-diagnosis, but if you are suffering from depression, even a mild case, it might be good to talk to some friends in the flesh. Talk to those you can be open with about the good times and the not so good. You could even invite a friend to play around with, using the cards and not getting too serious. It might help you get through whatever agitation is happening now.

Well, in this case I would interpret The Wheel as "everyday it's all the same", that is you feel stuck in a repetitive cycle where things seem never to change (depression). You go with the flow in a "negative" sense.
DanielJUK Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Just gently reminding in this thread, that we need to be careful in the context of health and mental health advice in the forum, we can't diagnose or give professional advice on medical topics 🙂 I think the wheel in the context of maybe how we are feeling, a good take there by @November. You could feel stuck in a cycle and the mundane grind of life. Looking into the future with the wheel in a reading could be positive, it could show things improving, "taking a turn for the better"! I've noticed it often changes your current state in life, things improving or things worsening, the opposite of how things are going in the present.
Guest Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Hi Mercedes :) Like you, I'm also new to the cards and I'm feeling my way around as well. My advice to you is that while you should look up and understand the traditional meanings of a card, you also have to go a step further and really think about how it applies to you and your beliefs and feelings. Take this card, Wheel of Fortune. I gather that things in your life aren't super happy right now, so you looked up the meaning of the card and applied it in a more literal way to your situation - trapped on the wheel of fortune, wanting to get off. Circumstances beyond your control. But I look at this card as saying two things: "things may be tough now, but they won't always be" and also that you don't have to be trapped, while you can't control the outcome, you can control what's keeping you stuck riding the Wheel of Fortune. So it's not so much the face value - the definition - of the card that matters, what matters is how you learn, apply and understand the card.
Sar Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 For me the wheel is a positive force. It is more Justice that can go each way....
