Do you put your Tarot/Oracle/Lenormand/etc decks to the test? Do you try to see if they're accurate by using them to predict events that are of no import to you like the winner in a tennis match for example, or who would win in a reality show, or who will ultimately survive in a slasher flick?

For some readers this is just par for the course. For others it is a bit disrespectful, like you are using the cards for trivial things or you don't fully trust them.

Lol, survive in a slasher flick!  No, I don't test my cards.  When I bless them I ask for trust and to put them to the test would be betraying that trust, at least in my eyes.  It's all about the unspoken bond I have with my decks.

I sorta feel like that too, Saturn. Well tbh I've done it around twice maybe, but generally I don't. I have this mindset that I must only use my decks if I have a good reason to. But sometimes I get tempted to use them to read on extraneous events, just for the heck of it. :)

No. I don't test my decks. That said, I do know if they are "keepers" in the first few shuffles and/or first reading. I feel like I have to dig my decks' vibes, and vice versa.

Slasher flicks!!! Lol!!

Ahem. They can be quite edifying too. If one digs deep, one can learn a lot from them.

I do not test them in that manner, but starting last year I started doing a deck of the month to get a really good feel for them I guess that could be considered a type of test lol.

I usually 'test' new decks by doing the first few readings on the things about myself that I'm supposed to know already, like what kind of personality I am, current events in my life, etc., to see how we connect. After that, it's just everyday work and study with the deck. :)

That's where universal readings come in.  When I was learning how to read, my mentor had me do universal readings with my decks.  Ask them a question and toss it out to the universe.  That was the best way for me to also learn the personalities of my decks.  My Golden Tarot (Kat Black) is a very serious deck for me!  But several of my other ones, have a real sense of humor.

I actually love slasher flicks. Back in grad school I even wrote a paper on Friday the 13th as comparable to 17th century revenge tragedies.

One of my favorite movies this year was GET OUT, which I don't classify as slasher per se, but still loved it.

Without exception, whenever I have tried this (and I did a lot when I was learning), I get very sarcastic or inverse answers.

This probably says more about me than it does about the decks I read with. I learned pretty quickly to stop doing it and take it seriously ashamed0004.gif

a quick google shows me there are a number of sites now, that have deck interview spreads. Early in my card work I enjoyed using one to get an acquaintance going on.

I started doing this recently (in the last 8 months or so) and use it when I choose the deck I am going to use each month (I am trying to spend quality time with the decks in my collection).  It seems to set the tone.  At the end of the month I go back and review it to see if my experience relates to what that reading suggested.

Deck interviews are how I do it, too. It’s a great way to learn the “voice” and strengths/limits of a deck you just got.

I have to admit, I have tried to use Tarot to predict how an episode of a show would go to mixed results. Mostly because I was itching to use a deck but had nothing to read for.

Now that you guys mentioned it, I always perform a deck interview whenever I open a new Tarot or Oracle. THIS is the spread I always use.

What an interesting question!  I've never even thought of doing that.  I think it is because I don't tend to do predictive readings.  Not sure why?  I should give it a go, just to see!

I must admit that I actually have put new decks to the test, on severally occasions. Often I just ask about how my day has been, and the answer I get tells me a lot about the way a deck communicates and how well it portrays my feelings and experiences. But I have also used some new decks to predict how certain sporting events will go (I am not interested in sports myself, but I let my husband decide which game to predict). That is also how the Tarot of the Magical Forest won me over, it successfully predicted several sporting events in a row, and then we became great friends. After that first trial I stopped asking it about sports and turned to more 'important' things, and then we became even greater friends :D)

Do you have the Baseball Tarot?  I LOVE the deck and use it for sports fans.

Ah, nice to hear this Raggydoll! I think I'd try using some of my decks to predict competitive matches or "reality" shows too. No one here said it has ever backfired anyway.

Also - the Tarot of Magical Forest is ❤. I'm going to get a copy of it for myself some time.

I wanted Tarot of the Magical Forest for a really long time but hesitated due to its 'cuteness'. I thought it would give warm and fuzzy (and perhaps not so serious or on-point) answers. But eventually I did cave in, and I also went ahead and trimmed it. And now it is one of my most used decks. It is seriously good! And the cuteness actually helps to soften the blow from its (sometimes very blunt) replies.
