CaneRandagio Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Hello everyone! I am quite new to the art of divination, currently using Saraswati cards for divination. I've owned and operated this deck for almost a year now, my first deck. After I confided in a diviner, to whom I explained that I tried to read briscola or scopa cards (Italian cards with 4 suits, very difficult to read), he advised me to buy the classic tarot cards, or another simpler deck to read, and I wanted to remain faithful to the religious tradition I follow, that is, the Hindu/Buddhist one. I have some questions to ask to try to better understand how everything works, ciao.
akiva Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Welcome to the forum! Is the Saraswati deck only the 22 majors? Just had a quick Google to look at it, but there's a few different decks shown. I sometimes read scopa cards, and they can be tricky... I tend to use them exclusively with what's known as "Metodo a due" or "Two Method", not sure if you've heard of it? It's very fun 😊
CaneRandagio Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 thanks for the welcome! I only have Italian links, I don't know if there is an English version of the deck. sorry but I can't paste links in total there are 71 cards, 1 master arcana, 22 major arcana, which have correspondences with the tarot and 48 minor arcana. with scopa cards I only know scopa and briscola games LOL

Thank you, I'll reverse image search that picture and take a look 😊 2 hours ago, CaneRandagio said: with scopa cards I only know scopa and briscola games LOL Haha, scopa is a fun game! I've not played briscola though (yet!)

Ciao. I find that classic Tarocchi are compatible with Hindu / Vedic traditions. They won't match exactly, but many esoteric elements are common between Hermeticism and Vedic science. For example, the Pancha Maha Bhuta = the 5 Elements of Alchemy. A few cards also express Buddhist concepts, but this is less developed. The most developed parallel I've found is with Vedic / Hindu / Yogic esoteric science. I've actually made my professional niche in mixing these 2 systems [see links in signature line]. Not everyone's cup of tea but it works great for me. Edited June 25, 2024 by Misterei
DanielJUK Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Welcome to the community @CaneRandagio 😀 We do have members of the forum who are Hindu and / or Buddhist who use many tarot decks, but obviously the most important thing is what you feel comfortable with. There are some Hindu specific decks, I know people have read for me with Ganesha and other Gods on them. I think the advice you were getting was to start simple, find a simple deck to learn the system. Once you know the system and the basic concepts of each card, you can move on to more tricky decks. I think that might have been the advice there. It is possible to learn a really tricky deck but you have to really work at it and put the time in to crack it.
CaneRandagio Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 DanielJUK, joy: Thanks for the welcome, I couldn't resist signing up when I read about the tea DanielJUK: I have heard of divination with a kind of board and dice, referable to Ganesha, but I don't know more about this method but now you've got me curious about these Hindu decks haha my biggest difficulty is remembering the meanings of the cards, I have a really bad memory, this part goes really slowly Misterei: I absolutely agree, I also see compatibility or similarities between the Western and Eastern traditions, in general terms, so I assume also in the cards. however in the book, which is found together with the Sarasvati cards, the similarity with the respective classic tarot cards is clearly written for each major arcana. when you say you mixed the systems, are you referring to divination with tarot cards and jyotisha? This morning I took a quick look at the link in your signature and I was pleased to once again find someone interested in jotisha, like me, but I'm not an expert, when I tried to learn, years ago, there were few resources to study and I let go, today there is more material.
