Rootwood Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Very new to tarot, about 2 years. Am really enjoying learning, reading and pondering the cards. My favourite, clutch-to-my-chest deck is Murder Of Crows. Very few decks have caught my eye since then. I was searching for a forum that discusses specifically Murder Of Crows and this site came up in search. What a lucky find! I have come under fire for not reading cards the way they are prescribed in the LWB and people have said, "That's not what the book says!" as they scroll on their phone to compare google definitions against what I've just told them. To which I reply, buy your own deck and go do your own readings with your little cellphone there if you're so smart. Well, it's my Daughter who does this to me so it's easy to tell her, "Reading over! Go away!" There are many cards where the book meaning suits fine, or pretty close. Some cards I'd like to toss out of the deck because I find them very annoying and pointless. Still other cards I read the book meaning and no, just no, that is NOT AT ALL what this card means to me! Then off I go, writing my own guidebook. But it's only for me. I would never tell anyone they're doing it wrong. As I have said to other tarot types, there are no tarot police and as far as I know no arrests have been made for creative, intuitive, unique card reading. I look forward to reading the posts here and getting to find my way around.
DanielJUK Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Welcome to the community @Rootwood 😀 Please start a discussion for the Murder of Crows if you like or want to discuss it. You can use decks however you like. People can be more intuitive reading or learning the meanings/ reference reading, we are all mostly a bit of both in different amounts. I think the book is useful to understand the basic meanings of each card, it's a guide and then you can look at the picture and go from there. Here are some discussions about different ways of reading....
