Hi all. I am new to all the Tarot thing and I am really excited to learn it and hope you will help me with that. For example I really like the approach of Marseille tarot guys like Pitsci ,Jodorovsky and Ben-Dov . My main goal for tarot is to study my thinking patterns with the help of cards. And I was told that Marseille is the better system for that .My biggest issue with all of this is that I don`t like any Marseille sets that are available. Yes I know this is very childish ,but why can`t I get something that looks nice ?For example what would happen if I get Waite style deck and use it as Marseille ?I am complete noob in this ,but I was told that Marseille is far more better for secular  reader and person who`s only goal is analyzing his thought process

Thank you all for your time

P.s Sry if my nickname offends someone it is only one I have

Happy welcome! 🙂 I'm a rather secular reader myself. Back in the days when I started to learn them properly I just wanted to debunk mysteries. But quickly figured how much they mirror my own mental states. Then I got hooked.

I get you on Marseille aswell. I'm doing just fine with the original RW cards. There are a lot of psychoanalytical approaches to it out there. Just got me a book about C.G. Jung, Archetypes and Tarot the other day. Not read it yet. But I know that its used for aspiring psychoanalysts in university aswell. My old therapist back in the days had it for studies.

Who told you this? Any deck can do that, it doesn't have to be a TdM. Even the Gummy Bear Tarot can do thought analysis! It's just introspective reading. "Why do I think this way about x?" "Why am I feeling like this in response to y?". There's no reason to pigeon hole yourself to TdM for this style of reading, if you don't like TdM decks. 😄

Have you looked at more modern TdMs/pip decks like:

Le Tarot de Marseille Feel Good

Squid Cake Marseille

New Choice TdM

• Arlecchino’s Augmented Arcana (you can download and print the images yourself or buy the deck)

It's possible you like modern pip decks, but not the old wood block style of TdM?

Nothing would happen, but you'd be neglecting the RWS tradition. But then again, there's absolutely nothing stopping you getting the Waite deck, reading the Pictorial Key to the Tarot online (or any resource you like) and doing thought analysis with it. It all just takes practice 😊

Good luck finding a deck you like. Our first steps can sometimes be the hardest, but once you get reading and start having fun, you won't look back! 😆

The good thing about learning RWS first is that there are so many resources out there for it. There are books as well for Marseille but I have found it a lot more complicated than RWS learning.

Really it's about the deck that fits you learning and you can find study resources. I think many people recommend RWS because the pictures have such symbolism and the minors (pips) are fully illustrated.

Secular readers just ignore any religious metaphors or symbolism in any tarot deck, so I don't think it really makes a difference. Use any deck from your own perspective and beliefs.

My issue is that I love the idea of barebones system like Marseille is and it is thing I really need right now .Like all the smart people on here said it can change with me learning more about Tarot. Now I just need to find  nice RSW deck that will work with my approach .Even I won`t use symbolism of RWS ,looking at beautiful pictures will help me to clear my head and analyze my thinking about the card I drew
