Celine Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Hi @geoxena I'll have a look at it later though on the face of it I'm just plain "no, absolutely not" as I can accurately predict (for once) that with my insufferable slant I'll go into vapid abstract stuff concerning the hidden depths of my tormented soul and I don't want that. I want to get out of there, it's humid, dark, and full of Gnoolies I know so well I have tea with them. But I'll have a look later because it's nice of you to suggest it. 😅

I feel you on this. 😉 I've been reading on current events just for practice. It gets me outside myself and forces me to use the cards for mundane topics. Some topics are easy to do accuracy testing [election results for example] while other topics are impossible to do accuracy testing as the full story may never be known [UFOs, crimes with potential cover-ups, things that become fodder for conspiracy theories]. Anyway, not everyone's cup of tea but I'm having fun with it.
xStardustx Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Another one folks have used is pulling cards while watching a new show. For the characters, plot, etc.

Aha my first try was on a man reported missing - a few days later I looked him up : the "missing" notice had been pulled down, but no explanation on whether he'd been found sound and safe. I've cut myself off from the news so I need to find a way to get back to a daily drip of stuff I could practice on. 8 hours ago, xStardustx said: Another one folks have used is pulling cards while watching a new show. For the characters, plot, etc. It is great to gain a feeling of confidence - at least in my very short experience it was always interesting, always either enlightening or literal. It's definitely something that will stay no matter what happens (meaning even if I give up on any more direct useful practical use out of sheer incompetence 😁) - a great tool to take your analyses on literature and so on to greater or different depths. Because of some dipping my toes into Lenormand, I had a look at ever minor card (RWS deck) and tried to boil each card down to just a few keywords...and reworked them when they had too much abstract potential 😅 . It will take time before I can see whether this is working for me. I wonder if I didn't break my deck though.

I've had to cut myself off from news videos as its too addictive. At this point I get a free daily email digest from a service called 1440. I either just delete the emails or click on stories that might be fun to read on.
