Barleywine Posted February 7 Posted February 7 It's been a couple (or a few) years since I was last here, so I figured reintroduction is in order. I've been busily blogging away on my divination blog since 2017 after Aeclectic Tarot folded (I have over 2,300 divination-related posts now), and recently wrote an essay bemoaning the fact that Aeclectic has never been convincingly replicated. I decided to come back and see if you can make a liar out of me. I see a few familiar names here, which is encouraging. Now you'll have to endure my relentless commentary again for a while (I'm just glad I didn't have to redo my login credentials).
Nemia Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Ha! That's wonderful. I look into your blog regularly. I'm glad to see you here! I remember you very well and have learnt a lot from you.Â
DanielJUK Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Nice to see you back around the place @Barleywine  Yes, all login account details are still the same. The only change over many years is you have to use an email address rather than username to log in (every website does this now, it's best security practice). Passwords only change when a member wants to change them 😀.
JoyousGirl Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Welcome (back)  I recently returned here myself - so maybe there's a resurgence. Sentimental about the good old days, because the world just is moving and changing a lot, but seemingly not in a good direction. Being part of the furniture somewhere is a good thing for a sense of place when everything around us is so impersonal and transactional...and time moves on so quickly now.  What was that magical thing about Aeclectic? Was it that the community members were so "rusted on" and committed to engaging and generously contributing? We don't see many newbies posting questions about their readings here, or many "oldies". Let's all endeavour to participate and create so that we can set your pants on fire.
Saturn Celeste Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Hi Barleywine! It's great to see you here again! Welcome back!

For me it was the range and depth of topics, and of course the people, some of whom are here, but those I had the greatest rapport with have gone elsewhere.
FindYourSovereignty Posted February 10 Posted February 10 @Barleywine, we are neighbors. Or were, until I moved north, to the mountains.  I was never on Aeclectic. I am starting the journey of learning the Thoth deck, but have been reading RWS for a little while. Your website is very interesting. I look forward to reading more. Thank you for creating it.

I believe I ran a Thoth study group here for a short while but it petered out and then I left. It's a lifetime study, particularly if you take up the Book of Thoth.

Yes, tarot appears to be a lifetime study with the many correspondences. I feel fortunate to have online opportunities for learning and guidance, but aim to be in person with people when I can. Vermont is a beautiful area, but nothing beats being close to the ocean for me.Â

I note some forums that opened at the time of Aeclectic's demise have closed down. I think TTM is the only one now?  As for content - I suppose that's up to participants I guess - and I wonder if there's too many social media distractions such that fewer people take up an actual deck or book?  2 hours ago, FindYourSovereignty said: Your website is very interesting Thanks for this - I've just nosed around and am looking at it now 🙂Â
