Hello everyone! I've been looking for this kind of forum for a while but have never participated before today. I've been practicing tarot for over 10 years now (mainly for personal readings). I am also familiar with Lenormand, Kipper and more recently I've started looking into astrology oracles as well. I'm always happy to learn more and grow through card readings. So here I am! By the way, I am from Montreal (Canada) and my first language is French so I'd be more than happy to share with other French-speaking people 🙂 Cheers!

A heartfelt welcome and my deep sympathy in these troubling times!

That's a very useful skill in the world of cartomancy. Even if reading methods from the Italian peninsula in all probability are older, the French wrote things down to a much greater extent. Most of the classics about tarot are written in French: Gébelin, Etteilla, Hugand, d'Odoucet, Levi, Christian, Wirth, Papus, Marteau ... None of them were historians, of course, but they have influenced how tarot is used. There is a multitude of Francophone books about playingcard-reading since the 1770s.  German is more useful for Lenormand-readers.

Does the name of the thread refer to the card game?

Actually, I didn't even know this was a card game! I am not from France and have never heard of this game before. "Coucou" is just a friendly way to say hello 🙂
