MlleTemperance Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 Hello everyone! I've been looking for this kind of forum for a while but have never participated before today. I've been practicing tarot for over 10 years now (mainly for personal readings). I am also familiar with Lenormand, Kipper and more recently I've started looking into astrology oracles as well. I'm always happy to learn more and grow through card readings. So here I am! By the way, I am from Montreal (Canada) and my first language is French so I'd be more than happy to share with other French-speaking people 🙂 Cheers!
Scandinavianhermit Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 (edited) A heartfelt welcome and my deep sympathy in these troubling times! 48 minutes ago, MlleTemperance said: By the way, (...) my first language is French That's a very useful skill in the world of cartomancy. Even if reading methods from the Italian peninsula in all probability are older, the French wrote things down to a much greater extent. Most of the classics about tarot are written in French: Gébelin, Etteilla, Hugand, d'Odoucet, Levi, Christian, Wirth, Papus, Marteau ... None of them were historians, of course, but they have influenced how tarot is used. There is a multitude of Francophone books about playingcard-reading since the 1770s. German is more useful for Lenormand-readers. Does the name of the thread refer to the card game? Edited March 5, 2025 by Scandinavianhermit link
MlleTemperance Posted March 5, 2025 Author Posted March 5, 2025 That was very informative, thank you! 37 minutes ago, Scandinavianhermit said: Does the name of the thread refer to the card game? Actually, I didn't even know this was a card game! I am not from France and have never heard of this game before. "Coucou" is just a friendly way to say hello 🙂
