Hi there! My name is Sebastian, I am from Germany and Tarot came into my life a little more than 10 years ago. I am a big fan of the Radiant RWT and RWT in general, because of the symbolism that's easy to interpret. I also love oracle decks in any form. I am looking forward to the exchange here.

Hello Sebastian!  Welcome to the forum.  I assume by RWT you mean the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot?  I'm not sure what the "T" stands for, so I thought I'd ask, in case I'm missing something. 🙂  I do know the RWS has a "Radiant" deck that is nice indeed.  I personally use the Centennial RWS version that comes in a tin, as it's a very attractive deck.  I suppose it's the opposite of the 'Radiant' deck as the colours are quite subdued.  But I, too, use mostly the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, even though I own about 40 other decks.

Do you have particular favourites among your oracle decks?

Hi Chariot, thanks for your message. My bad regarding the RWT. RWT = Rider Waite Tarot. Forgot the Smith 🙂 And you are right, the colors of the Centennial RWS are really subdued.

My favourite oracle decks would be:

  • Sacred Traveler Oracle Cards by Denise Linn
  • Conscious Spirit Oracle Deck by Kim Dreyer
  • Wisdom of the Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid
  • Mary Queen of Angels Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

What are your favourites?

Welcome Sebastian / @spmkde :animated-smileys-signs-085: Glad you have found us on the forum, we have quite a few German members around the place 🙂

We do have some community abbreviations and you were not to know and people use all kinds of Rider Waite abbreviations 🙂 At least you spelt Rider right which I know drives some of the deck fans mad! :classic_laugh:

Just thinking off the top of my head - RWS - Rider Waite Smith, OOP - Out of Print, I am sure there are others around the place.

Hi Daniel, is there any feature here on this forum to search other members by location? Something like a members map. This would be helpful to meet others nearby in person.

My oracle decks are fairly mundane, compared to yours!  And I only have three.  I use Philip Carr/Stephanie Gomm's The Druid Plant Oracle, and also Phil and Jacqui Lovesey's The Arboridium and their The Majick Cottage oracles.

I use the Druid Plant Oracle as a finish to many of my standard tarot readings.  I just pull one Plant card and decide how that plant's properties apply to the reading I just got.  (I love plants, and am fairly knowledgeable about their uses.)  I use the other two just for fun, because I love the artwork.  When I'm in a grouchy or downcast or fearful state of mind, I pull a few of these and always feel calmer and more optimistic.  They are cute, but not cutesy, if that makes sense.  🙂

How do you use your oracle cards?  On their own, or with tarot?  I am not familiar with the ones you quoted, but they sound like 'serious' oracle cards.

Ah, just had a look at the Sacred Traveler Oracle Deck on YouTube and realised I'd seen it before and actually considered owning it.  I think it might be useful.  I'll put it back on my wish list.

It never occured to me that I could combine the cards 🙂 Interesting approach. Maybe I can adapt this, too.

For the oracle decks I usually just ask for general advice / what's important right now and draw one card. As with your approach, this helps me to increase confidence, faith, and trust. It's most often encouraging.

Good to know that deck reviews or flip-throughs are available on YouTube. Thanks for mentioning it. And yes, the Sacred Traveler deck is probably the one closest to my heart.

The Sacred Traveller is IMHO a wonderful feel-good deck. It actually found me, I grabbed it almost unconciously, before I realized.

BTW I am from Germany too, NRW, near Wuppertal.

We don't have a location field on profiles where members say where they are from, so it's not possible to search that way. Also quite a few members keep their profile very anon of details.

However we can search these introductions and who mentioned Germany here -

Yes, I agree. Members don't necessarily want their locations known ...or easily searchable by location.  I live in Scotland, but I wouldn't want people in Scotland—or people visiting Scotland—to locate me without my permission, or ask to meet up unless we have formed a close friendship online already.   That can feel intrusive.  🙂

Welcome to the forum @spmkde !

I agree with Chariot that we wouldn’t want people tracking us without permission. If you wish to connect with people IRL, then why not start a thread where you look for members who are in your area and who would be interested in a meet up? You might want to ask forum staff which area such a thread can be made. Certain parts of the forum are only open to subscribers so I’m not sure if you can access the general chatter area.
