This is something I have been thinking about recently and a subject for the more spiritual /astrology following/ Moon cycle following readers.

Traditionally there is a belief you shouldn't do readings when the Moon is Void of Course. In traditional astrology, it's advisable to not start something new, try to get factual information or communication or divine. It's a window to prepare but not do, because the Moon is in an energetically weak position.

Will explain the concept first - The Moon takes 29.5 days to go through all the signs in her (pretty fast) cycle and she spends 2.5 days on average in each sign. Some people follow these cycles in their lives. The Moon travels along and is transitting different planets, socialising and is strong. Void of Course occurs when she has made her last major transit in that sign and it's the time between that and entering a new sign. So during this period she is having a rest and her energy is not as strong. We get a few of these every week, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours and sometimes days at a time. Usually, it's minutes or hours. There are apps and calendars online which follow these VOC periods. So you can track when they are happening.

At this time, we are getting some long VOC Moon periods this month, we are in one right now that lasts from Saturday to Monday, about 2 days.

Does anyone avoid reading and divination during these times? Are you consciously following them?

I have only recently started following VOC periods but one thing I don't like in astrology are all these times when you shouldn't do something. Like some people research the astrology best times to do something in a month but I think that's different to all the things you shouldn't do at a certain day or time. It feels like restricting life, rather than enjoying it.

However some people say their readings are worse when reading in these times and wait till the Moon is in her next sign.

I am not sure if lunar cycles affect my readings. I think I am going to have to experiment on this for myself but I don't really notice a difference in my readings between Full Moons, New, Retrogrades and VOC. However it's something I am keeping an eye on and see if I should read through them or not. I don't like to be superstitious, I really need to see if it actually affects my readings or not.

Anyway would love to hear any experiences with this 🙂

I do follow the Moon, but I'm ignorant of its void-of-course periods. The reason for this is, firstly, that I deem asteroids to be important (Ciao Pallas! Hey Chiron!), and secondly, I find the Moon's aspects to placements in my natal chart and its transit through my houses even more important and significant.

So, if you want to explore the Moon's effect on your receptivity or spiritual undertakings, I would recommend watching it wander through your chart.
