I went out to dinner last night and our server had tattoos from her shoulders down her arms, including images of birds, flowers, lion, clockface, etc.  Without thinking I started "reading" meanings in her tattoos (thankfully silently).  I caught myself midstream and started thinking about how the iconography of tattoos and tarot are probably linked in many ways.  This ever happen to any of y'all, where you see a tatted stranger and catch yourself "reading" their tattoos? A first for me.

Yes, all the time. Another form of art to me. 😍

They do say tattoos are the story of someone's life 🙂

I find myself reading symbolism everywhere!

There is such a trend with tattoos currently and some of the artists are global stars with their art style. Some of them have made tarot decks and I am so intrigued with the idea that their art can be on skin or make a deck with their style. It's the same on cardboard or skin! Also some of the other tarot artists are having their symbols used as tattoos, I saw Wild Unknown had an online donation link for charity if you used one of the designs, to give back. Seems to have gone now.

Tattoos and Tarot are definitely connected as art forms in some way 🙂

I have 2 tattoos, one is a letter and the other is Ramona Quimby (Age 8, throwing a fit).

Even if you could see it, what it represents is not apparent. My brother did it, and while he and I are estranged, there is multiple layers of meaning is to it. The least being is they were my fave books as a kid.

I think because of my feelings for why on my tat makes me hesitant to dissect others.

As this thread exists, I don't want to open a new one. Having got my second tarot some days ago, I'm thinking about the next one. (My daughter is a budding tattoo artist, so I can get as many tattoos as I want!)

My first tattoo was for myself (a dragonfly), my second one is a partner tattoo, and I want my third tattoo to be tarot-related.

Does anyone here have a tarot tattoo? Do you have ideas or have you seen a good tarot tattoo? I don't want to simply copy a card, that doesn't seem right somehow. I'm collecting ideas at the moment, so if anyone has a good idea, I'd love to know!

The idea came up with: the two vessels of Temperance (one of my favourite cards). No arms, no hands, only the two chalices and the liquid flowing between them in this gravity-defying, wavy diagonal. Or the fire and water from the Thoth. Just an idea so far.
