Croat Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I’ve recently been studying Melanie Marquis’ Spellcaster’s Tarot and find it interesting that she corresponds the Earth element with health, but not the Water element. Ancient oracle sites, particularly temples dedicated to the healing gods Asclepius and Amphiaraus, were invariably associated with water, typically as a life-force representation of healing. Other tarot masters have likewise associated the Water element with healing (Tracy Porter to cite just one example). Kind of struck my curiosity cord to inquire how others associate health and healing in the tarotsphere?
JoyousGirl Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) My input as a geo-lover: The physical and material are represented by Earth. We are physical bodies, and what is going on or in our body as a tangible thing (interacting among other physical-tangible things - even if we don't see them - like viruses and bacteria) is why health has Earth associations. Zoonotics, infections etc. Prokaryotes didn't need oxygen. Cyanobacteria brought in oxygen (Air element). Fire in the form of the Sun was also already in existence (and within the Earth itself as it / magma cools). When it comes to water, it is necessary for life. If we think of soil, it needs water to bring forth life, and maintain it. So Fire and Water are 'opposites', but work together, bringing together and splitting apart. Water flushes and cleanses us - think of our kidneys and the surface of our physical bodies, too. We need to wash our hands or bugs can enter the physical form. We need to wash dirt out of wounds. So water is healing and supportive of healing and purification, when acting on the physical. They work together for giving and maintaining life/health. Babys rest in warm amniotic fluid.
