Hi I am new!
I did dabble in Marseilles (major only) about 40 years ago 😱 & now I have decided to learn properly, with RWS.
I'm somewhat of a sceptic when it comes to Tarot & if it really works, but nevertheless I am a person who believes spirituality has power & value.

Although I say that, I did have a weird experience with Ouija way back in the 1980s then which put me off the occult. I was young & a bit frightened by a couple of experiences  - Now I would say that was an over-active imagination, but back then I felt like something supernatural was happening.

These days Im able to study it & feel safe. I have a healthy interest in learning about mysticism, the occult, plus the actual history & origins of all the many aspects from ancient gods to modern wicca.
Although I am very much a novice, I read as much as possible.

At the moment I have a couple of very cheap decks, just to get my bearings. Now Ive ordered Conrad Steyns Vintagey Pam A which I feel will give me an enjoyable experience going forward.
Ive read Eden Grays Complete Guide to Tarot, Sacred-texts (Pictorial Key) & been using tarotstudies.blog and cross referencing these 3.

My goal really is just to have a reasonable working knowledge of the Tarot, to be able to do a reading & have fun, and to learn about symbolism.

Hi @Caduceus and :animated-smileys-signs-085:

There's lots to see and do, and learn, so have a look around and you might find another goal to work towards!

See you around the boards.

Welcome to the community @Caduceus :animated-smileys-signs-085: Glad you found us here and great name! 😀:78496:

Whilst tarot and divination get linked to the supernatural and spiritual all the time, I don't think it has to be. You can make it work for you. Some people come at it from a religious perspective, others a secular experience, and others a spiritualist / mediumship angle. Scepticism is always very healthy 🙂 . Working out our own personal journey through it is part of the challenge 😄

That's a great perspective DanielJUK I guess there is nothing that requires any particular belief to still be able to enjoy Tarot. Thanks for the welcome.
