Help, cannot access my old account.

My forum name is missy (the missy from Aeclectic). I know which email address I used to create my forum account here on July 5, 2017.  I tried the "forgot password" but it did not send me a reset password link. I thought I might try creating a new account, but when I input my username, it told me that it was already in use, which gives me hope that my account still exists. Can someone please help me access my account again? Thank you.

Could you reply with your email address you are trying to reset? We won't make this public here and will edit it out of view.

Hi Daniel! I remember you. My forum name was missy (all lowercase). I notice now there seems to be a Missy (uppercase) who joined in 2019. That is not me.

This is a little complicated as a situation and we are going to have look into it. It's possible you might have requested your account deleted some years ago, that is why it is saying guest with your name.

I promise I did not request my account be deleted; I have several other tarot forum accounts on other tarot forums that are old, and I would never want them deleted. I am the type of person that would never request it to be deleted, as I want to keep my posts up for posterity; I always learn from other peoples' older posts as we all did on aeclectic). The only hiccup I remember with thetarotforum.com is the forum changed from the original website I registered on, tarot tea and me at the address littlefangtarot.com/forum/  (that was the address of the forum when I registered) to thetarotforum.com and I don't know if there were snafus in the transfer process.

So there is nothing showing a deletion, but considering you were here that long ago, there may have been shenanigans in the forum transfer.

Unfortunately, it seems somebody with another email has that account currently, one called Missy.  I see no record of your email in the back end. 😞 

I may not be able to reattribute old posts to a new account, but we'd love to have you back if you wish to start a new account!  I could bump you up a level so you don't have to deal with post moderation weirdness. 😉 It'll have to be a slightly different name , though; I'm so sorry about that.

I was trying out usernames in the username field (on the registration page) to see if I can find one that suits me, but it seems I don't have access to the registration field anymore because it tells me my IP address already has a registration?

 

Anyway, I prefer all lowercase ... is "missy from aeclectic" too long for a username? (just thinking about it) What is the max number of characters in a username? Thank you.

I think the max characters for a username are around 17/ 18 characters, so that might be too long. Try it out. You can change your username later when registered to something different or adjust it to how you want. You are not stuck with it if you change your mind.

If it's blocking you re-registering again, please let us know, we will try to find out why it's not allowing you to register again.

Perhaps "missy from AT" might work!

I don't see a registration with your IP address. Try again when you have a chance, perhaps on an incognito browser window, and let us know if you're still experiencing difficulty. We will figure this out! 🙂

I tried just "missy from" and get an error "That value is not allowed." This seems to occur with any combination of username that has a space in it.

Also, FYI, the captcha that must be completed before posting doesn't work on iPhone/iPad; I've been using an ancient laptop. But even there, the "select object with unique motion pattern" captchas don't display at all (all I see is a blank white space). Unfortunately, this is the most common captcha I am being offered, and even when I hit refresh, it gives me another "select object with unique motion pattern" one. So I am having difficulty communicating with you.  Perhaps you could reach out by email?

As a followup, I tried (without registering, just entering this into the username field) using with no spaces "missyfromaeclecticxx" (with two x's added to represent the two spaces for "missy from aeclectic" and it did not seem to have an issue with the length. That seems to be the longest name allowed. (I tried adding more characters, and they did not appear in the username field.)

 

Is it possible for me to register as "missyfromaeclectic" and then have the spaces added later? So that the final name would read "missy from aeclectic"? Thank you.

Thanks for being so patient whilst we work it all out 🙂 

Right, we have a plan to get you back into the community. @Little Fang can create an account for you. So if you are happy with a username, we'll get it made and then I will email you the username and a password to the email address you gave us in this thread. Then you can log into the forum with your new account, change the password to something you want and for security reasons and hopefully you will be back on the site 🙂 .

 

Please let us know if you are okay with that and the email you gave before is okay to use. You are right, when you register, the username must be one word, but when you come back into the forum, you can change it and add spaces. That is how you do it. Are you happy with "missyfromaeclectic"? Just doubt checking before we proceed.

 

I have noticed recently using Firefox that CAPTCHAs are broken if I don't turn off blocking site tracking for that site. It's possible maybe on iOS as well, that browsers / apps are blocking them. Unfortunately we have to have them on, we get countless bots trying to register all the time.
