From Barbieri's Unicorns Oracle, and the Independence card from Hutton's Raven's Wand

 

 

My new favorite oracle deck is the Angel Answers Oracle by Radleigh Valentine. I’m an angelic healing practitioner and work closely with the angels in my daily spiritual practice, so this one really resonates with me. It’s great for a quick one or two card pull if you need a simple answer to a problem or question. The images are so gorgeous. 
 

I got the Gratitude Oracle by Angela Hartfield last spring and I am very happy I did, it really lifts up your mood and it gives the most loving answers. Also, it has such beautiful illustrations, by artist Josephine Wall.

I've recently took delivery of The Urban Crow Oracle by MJ Cullinane. It has 54 cards, good cardstock, very easy to shuffle, a nice companion book that goes into full details of the cards and the cards themselves are well drawn and colourful and are numbered with keywords. I've had a bit of a dry spell with tarot so then this oracle caught my eye. I'm still getting to know it but some of the readings I've done for me have been real eye openers, including the new deck spread. I'm excited to get to work with this deck.

Okay, I'll jump in here. I only have three oracle decks that I actually use. Two of them ...listed here first ...are oracle decks where I tend to pull ONE card after a tarot reading, that gives me another perspective on the tarot reading I've just done.

The first of these is ...inaccurately ...called The Dreampower Tarot, by RJ Stewart, and illustrated by Stuart Littlejohn. However, other than the fact that it is printed on cards, it has nothing to do with tarot. It is an oracle deck. There are pip cards included ...again, not tarot ...which I have actually got rid of because I never use them. But the remainder of the cards are startling, to say the least, and provide a LOT of food for thought. I believe this is long out of print, but might be available to buy pre-owned. It's a stunner.

Here is just a sample of some of the cards in the Dreampower deck. As you can see they are neither numbered nor named.

The second deck I use to finish a tarot reading is The Druid Plant Oracle by Philip Carr & Stephanie Gomm. These are the people who created The Druidcraft Tarot, which actually doubles up very well with this oracle deck for a reading. The book that accompanies this oracle is what makes it so satisfying to use, as the book goes into all the traditional uses of each plant as well as historical and mythological aspects of the plant. It's easy to attribute some characteristics of the plant to whatever the tarot reading was about.

And last, but definitely not least (I use this deck for my own pleasure and comfort quite often) is The Majick Cottage oracle deck, written by Phil and Jacqui Lovesey, who live in Shropshire, in England. I was smitten with Jacqui's artwork the moment I saw pictures from this deck, and couldn't wait to get it. The deck is more than satisfying ...actually quite enchanting and amusing without being 'cute.' The overall feeling is of home-ness and home comforts as well as a few niggles. The pictures and storybook about Matlock the Hare that come with this deck are unique, to say the least, and I often assemble several of the cards together just to illustrate how I hope my day will go. Often, it does. It always makes me smile.

I'm inclined to check this one out, as I have the Crow Tarot, by MJ Cullinane, and think it is a beautiful deck. It's one of the few decks I bought simply because I liked the look of it. As a tarot deck I find it difficult to use, as the pictures (especially the minor arcana cards) don't stand out from one another well enough for me to do an intuitive overall reading. But an oracle deck by the same artist (with keywords) might be just the thing. Thanks for the recommendation.

UPDATE ...looked at it online, LOVE IT. Just ordered it! I think I'm on an ordering spree at the moment ...must stop....

I looked at The Crow Tarot too but I realised it didn't pull me like the Urban Crow Oracle did. The Urban Crow cards are also very intuitive, the keywords just help open up the cards, like a stepping stone. The companion book is also pretty good. It's not often I can get lost in card imagery, similar to how I work with the Liber T, but these cards are drawn to help you do that. It's an interesting journey.

I like that the pictures seem to reflect contemporary settings and issues as well. That can be very helpful.

My all-time favourite that I have used for years is Medicine Cards, by Sams & Carson. I have the pocket version (OOP) which has short poems written on each card about the quality of the animal.

...I have 3 new decks this year - and I love them all:

1) Oracle de Marseille by Lucie and Raphael

2) Shorelines Oracle (can't remember author...) - great one for grief readings.

3) The Crystal Oracle by Rijswijk and Freeman.

In addition to loving self-collected oracle decks, I like these...

My favorite at the moment is the Citadel, since I'm drawn in by the idea of this imaginary city and its rpg-inspired inhabitants. The lwb gives a moment in the life of each. (EDIT: and in has keywords! I forgot I blocked them out for this reading)

This Japanese PCS-inspired oracle had keywords I didn't love, but now that it's trimmed I like it

Does I Ching count for this when using cards instead of coins or beads?

If so, I've loved this deck for years. It conveys the meaning while leaving a lot of space for interpretation.

And I just received the Blooming Lovelies by accident (I bought her tarot, but they accidentally shipped this and told me to keep it. Great for a pick-me-up, though I do prefer her take on the tarot more than the oracle that doesn't have that context. She's very positive without ignoring that sometimes a situation just sucks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't use oracle decks very often. When I do, I usually just pull one oracle card at the end of a tarot reading to add a different perspective. I really like the Vintage Wisdom Oracle deck. The story goes that the creator stumbled upon a collection of antique postcards in France, and used them as the basis for the deck. I think she did wonderfully well.

I actually lost my deck somehow during a move. At some point a few years later, I realized I wanted it again, so I ordered another. Thankfully it is still in print.
