Self-fulfilling predictions 🫠

Featured Replies

That moment in which you are doing a prediction reading for a friend and you see yourself in the damn cards, doing stuff in the future...stuff that you WERE thinking of doing, but still not sure about it.

Creepy as hell, i had to decide between:

1) Being honest and passing as egocentric, and obviously announcing the intentions I had, which I wasn't even sure about 🥲.

2) Being vague and abstract on purpose, so they wouldn't associate the prediction with me, at least at that moment.

I chosed the second (i know i know, is not the most ethic thing), but the funny part is that 6-7 weeks later i ended up fulfilling the prediction, after much thought. Nothing drastic or nasty don't worry, i just cut off contact with that person for certain reasons, and I obviously explained the reason to them first and listened to their answer.

SO, moral of the story: predictions are sometimes scarily accurate and don't care about the persons involve hahah, even the tarot reader. You count as a "player", and the board is bigger than you think.

Has anyone had a similar experience with omen/future prediction spreads?

Do you mean you were doing a reading for somebody else, and the cards showed what was probably going to be YOUR interaction with them in the future?  So it was not only a reading for them, but for yourself as well?

Did you include an 'advice' card in the reading?  If so, did you think the advice was for them, or for you?

Can't say that I have.  It might be how I do the 'intention' as I shuffle the deck, it's always in the name of the sitter.  Do you read for yourself a lot?  That might have something to do with it; if you're used to reading for yourself is it easy to insert yourself into the message?  Just a thought. :animated-smileys-thinking-36:

I second this.

Sometimes a reading for someone else can have aspects that resonate with my own current (or upcoming) situation. I would call that synchronicity. However, that has never meant that the reading was for me, so I just put all that to the side when I interpret the cards.

I find it helpful to always assume that the cards are answering the question we asked, and nothing else. If I start seeing myself in the cards, I need to refocus. Maybe the sitter is going through something similar or maybe I am missing out on all the other things that the cards could indicate just because it reminded me of my own situation? That is what I would ask myself if it happened 🙂

First of all, thank you all for your responses!! Answering your question, the reading was about their future in a general way and it showed various aspects (family, job...) my interaction was one of them since I was a more or less important person in his life at the moment. The advice was also for him.

But yes, i felt the paradox of: okey, now if I am being conditioned by this result, I will continue to provoke it? Looking back, I think it was more the natural rhythm of things instead of a drastic decision. As if the cards were reading the tendencies he had as a person (personality, habits, fears...) and the tendencies of the people close to him, and establishing the most likely path of the future between both of us.

Yes and no hahaha. I do read for myself a lot, but i also do a lot of daily readings for others. This had never happened to me before, nor with friend nor with strangers 🫠. But that's definitely a very interesting take, and one should have it in mind!

This is also really helpful! Refocusing and pulling the ego aside is a must when we get lost in a reading. I will have that in mind so I don't condition somehow the result or my way of explaining it in the future 🫡💓.

Again, thank you all!

@Pruvia Thanks for answering my questions so well.  I guess it's inevitable—if you're doing a reading for somebody you know— that any involvement you have with their issue could certainly figure into the reading.  As to whether 'knowing' this information would influence your own behaviour?  Dunno.  But good question.  Tarot ethics is not always clear-cut, is it?
