Hi, I came across an interesting inner child spread (@ https://curiousthings.org/therapy-blog/tarot-as-therapy scroll down almost all the way), but it doesn't say, in which order the cards should be drawn. I mailed the author, but didn't yet hear from her yet, so I am asking here. Does it matter in which order the cards are drawn? Or is it simply more important to focus on the meaning of the position (for which the card is drawn)?

You can use a spread however works best for you but the "regular" way is that you shuffle the deck up and take random cards.

The page says to make an intention (or I guess, think of a question), pick a spread and then shuffle the cards and deal in the positions.

We all have our own shuffle methods, so just choose what works out for you.

There is a nice discussion about shuffling from the past on the forum here.....

There is a nice guide to the different techniques here....

Thank you for taking the time to answer. The shuffle threads are interesting. What I was referring to with my initial question though is the sequence in which the drawn cards are laid out. Usually spreads come with numbers (1, 2, 3, ....) so that you know in which order to put them on the table. The mentioned spread only has short descriptions. Hope this makes more sense now (not a native speaker).

To answer myself. I went ahead and drew the cards in not a specific order. Instead, I just picked each card position of the spread and focussed on the description of this position as I shuffled and drew the card. The result seems harmonious.

Interesting link with interesting spreads! There are spreads where you have to follow the order given by the author or where the order makes inherent sense, for example, an astrological spread. But with spreads like these, you can decide on the sequence of the cards,  you can change the position names, you can add new positions or try permutations (interpreting the cards as they fall, then move each card to its neighbouring position). In my opinion, spreads written by others are great raw material, but you're always free to adapt them to your needs.

I'm glad it worked for you. I'll try the Inner Child spread as well. I'm always interested in Inner Child work. Lisa Papez has a very good Inner Child spread, and there is another one I found, Healing the Inner Child

It's worth experimenting with what works for you. Like do you take cards from the top of the deck, randomly from anywhere, make piles? One way is to fan the cards out and just pick the cards you are pulled towards. The best way is the way that is right for you 🙂
