I rarely use tarot for predictions any longer-I’m content with where I am right now. I use it as a divination tool - to connect with the Divine, which is what the word really means, divination I mean. Sometimes the answers are astounding! Most western Christians have been taught, & truly believe, that one passage in Exodus 22:18, “thou shalt not suffer a witch, or sorceress, to live”, not knowing or caring what that word means in ancient Hebrew, which it was written in. It actually translates from M’Khashepah=kash, herb, in the Septuagint, as someone who uses herbs or plants for good or ill, sometimes a poisoner. Good ‘ol King James sure twisted that one around, eh? Or how about Joseph’s magical silver cup that he used for divination purposes in Genesis? (Most people don’t even know about that. It’s just not taught.) Or his ‘coat of many colors’, which has many ramifications. Or the Urim & Thummim, commanded by God to use for scrying & divination purposes? What about all of God’s commands to use sticks & stones, dice, & many other methods to determine who got what, when & where? All commanded by God. I have spent decades studying this, yes, I’m a Bible nerd. Maybe that’s why I so like the Viceversa, it delves deeply into Kabbalah. Maybe a new group?

From what I learned in my Catechism classes, the Church is not against divination per se. However it must come from God Himself - if it comes from other sources it becomes tainted or even dangerous. So God's prophets = good, others = steer clear.

Also - I didn't know that the Vice Versa is Kabbalistic! Now I'm even more excited to read it, Canid! :D

Yes, Viceversa uses & explains many kabbalistic symbols that were incorporated. I sure was taught differently in Catechism than you though! Yes, contacting the ‘divine’ is where the word divination came from: but it can be a bit dicey if your heart & intent isn’t in the ‘right’ place, downright dangerous. I think that’s why the companion book is so important with this deck. Thank you!

I'd love a new group to talk Kabbala with. You've now got me curious about the Vice Versa tarot...
