I was really excited about it, but I don’t think I’ll go for it. It’s expensive with no buyer’s protection. google gives me 260gsm as card stock for that c2s pt12. I hope it’ll come out as mass market deck someday. But good luck to those of you who are going for it, I’ll be looking forward to seeing pictures!

Yeah, this is a bit more than I was planning to spend. I'll have to think about it.

I think I'll be skipping this one. It's not only expensive but there's no convenient way for me to pay for it, being outside of the US.

I can't even see where the price is shown - linky ? Not that I buy from the US much anyway (UK customs) but I am interested to see f I can find a way to buy from here, just out of curiosity.

He posted that it'll be USD100 per deck, international delivery $25 (which seems a bit cheap compared to others?). Also, a lot of people are not delivering to the UK just now for VAT reasons like the Black Tarot or the Somnia, not sure if he looked into that. Or he just... well... you know.... 😇

The Somnia artist has a way to sell to the UK, and as soon as he has the decks, it will happen (I HAVE to have that, and have been in touch !)

But for $100 - yes, not buying. I don't like it $100 worth. I see Venmo works in the UK, at least. That said - if he won't do paypal, giving buyer protection - that is another no-no. I've had a couple of packages vanish because of covid (one, at least, genuinely so.)

I just received a deck from eh US with postage at $26, so if it isn't very heavy....

Also I just tried to sign up to instagram (under a pseudonym ) and all is well - except when it gets to my HAVING to give them my cell phone number. NOT doing that - even if there were a good enough signal up here to get the code before it expires !

Oooh that is good to know!

I was so excited about this tarot, but I just can't swing $100, especially when life keeps getting more expensive. 😧

I was lucky enough to sign up to Instagram before they required phone numbers. Ugh, I really hate how some social media sites work. x.x

As much as I understand the cost, particularly since he didn't go the usual routes of crowdfunding or with a printer who collated, and wanted to keep it environmentally sustainable, it feels really inaccessible. Here's hoping he gets an MM offer from USG.

Edit: His response to a question as to why he's not using a service with buyer protection doesn't fill me with confidence.

??? What is this supposed to mean.

No - I would say "fine, not buying something with no protection", and see how he likes them apples.

The plot thickens:

It's...unclear how he plans to determine this. (Someone has already pointed out that emails will get lost in spam folders etc.) As much as I'd love a copy this is sounding more and more like it's going to turn into a mess.

I.Increasingly.Do.Not.Care. If he can;t manage sales sensibly (etsy, perhaps) he can do the other thing. Not that I am about to incur the import fees this will attract anyway.

Yeah, the business of no buyer protection was one thing, but now it's purely via email and payment apps, with no shopping cart system?

Ah well. Hopefully someone who gets one can let us know how the deck turned out, I'm curious to hear about the finished product.

...okay, NOW he's offering PayPal. x.x

Anyways, Send him an email right now, per the post I snapped above, or at midnight PDT tonight, for a shot at one of the decks.

I got one, in the second round. Will report back here when I receive it, in a few weeks hopefully!

Was able to snag one—it was 3 PM (GMT+8), and my calls were wrapping up. Funny, but I had never even heard of this deck until it popped up on my Facebook feed literally minutes after the first drop. This style is so nostalgic for me, and it makes me smile looking at the art. If I had been on PST, I would've been asleep by 10 PM, and pining the next day.

I snagged one, and it arrived safe and sound yesterday.

I have to admit I was pretty shocked. The art is gorgeous and really clever in its interpretations of the card meanings - we all know this, the art has been posted publicly. But the cards themselves have sharp corners - I've never seen that before, but okay. What's stranger and distressing is that they're printed on what feels like low-quality business cards cardstock. I actually compared them to a business card that came with an etsy purchase at the same time, and the real business card was of a much thicker, studier cardstock. I don't think these will hold up to regular readings at all. They felt like they were going to tear and bend just as I was flipping through them, never mind actual shuffling.

The deck also has no artwork on the back of the cards, which are plain black. And although the front of the cards seem to be printed in a good resolution, the plain black backs have scuffs along the edges already.

The cards are very small - I don't have a playing cards deck to compare them to, but I would guess they're actually slightly smaller than a set of playing cards.

Overall: still glad I nabbed them, because the art is so gorgeous and I'm a magpie who's happy to have them in my collection. But massively disappointed that they don't seem like a usable deck at all, and definitely nowhere near worth the price. Will cross my fingers that there's another, better edition at some point - preferably in partnership with a publisher who knows what they're doing.

Man this is all really sad to hear. <sigh> I had such high hopes for the deck, as the art is just amazing and inclusive in so many ways. And then...bleh.

Ah well.

@Siavahda, thank you for the review! I feel better about not being able to afford it, though I am sorry for your disappointment.❤️

@Siavahda I posted on the Unboxing and First Impressions thread a few hours ago! The card backs do feature a design, but it’s very faint.
