Whisper Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 So, I started with the Way of the Horse oracle and decided to do the following spread with it: a) Choose: 1. The card you like the most from the deck. 2. The card you like the least from the deck. 3. Shuffle. Pick a card (3) that represents what I need to learn after considering cards 1 and 2: 1..........3............2 Then, a) Interpretation - What do cards 1 and 2 mean to me right now? Why do I like it one and not the other? b) Is the card I don't like (card 2) particularly significant (- am I locking out the emotions suggested by this card? etc.) c) Am I living out the quality of the card I like (card 1) or just daydreaming about it? d) What do I need to learn about the other two cards represented by card 3? So my reading: Card 1: 9 Language of the Breath Card 2: 17 Depression Card 3: 5 Dominance a) Interpretation - What do cards 1 and 2 mean to me right now? Why do I like the one and not the other? I love this card, Language of the Breath. This horse knows when to look back just to make sure he hasn't missed anything. His bearing is majestic, yet not insensitive. He exudes balance and understanding. This card I like (1) really means a lot to me because I believe that one of the most important things is to have, as this card counsels, "intelligence of the heart". In other words, the ability to use our whole body as an "organ of perception" and read others, listening not only to what they say, but also to pick up on all non-verbal cues. This speaks to me because, all too often, caught up in my own thoughts and concerns, I don't really pay enough attention. Marrying thought and emotion isn't always easy and we have to balance both which is not always easy. This card tells me to be conscious of that. There are things that we express that come from the heart only and I want to be able to be sensitive enough to always use the intelligence of my heart, not just the intelligence of mind. I can see from how bowed this mare is and how she plods along that she's burnt out. It's as if she's vanishing. Although I'm not depressed, I have been dealing with difficult challenges which have forced me to look at life differently. I've had to make changes and I know that, probably, there are more to come. It is significant to me because I know I have the resilience to overcome, seeing these challenges as lessons to be learnt for my betterment. So, the fact that I don't like this card might well mirror the fact that I'll be d@%ned if I'll ever let life get the better of me. This mare and her attitude serve as a warming because I also prize my health above all things. It's a reminder that it is the mind that controls the body, not the other way around. Another thing that occurs to me about this card and its message is that we often let others take advantage of us and put ourselves aside: the proverbial woman who works, takes care of her family and has not time to care for herself. b) Is the card I don't like (card 2) particularly significant (- am I locking out the emotions suggested by this card? etc.)? Regarding card 2 Depression, although I don't like it, proffers a challenge to change old patterns of behaviour and look in new directions. Apparently, the path I've been on doesn't really match my life's purpose. I've been feeling that for a while. Hopefully, I'll still have time, in a few years, to take up what it is that I'm really supposed to be doing and letting out my creativity. Hopefully through something like Tarot. As Linda Kohanov writes in the accompanying book to this deck, we all, "deep inside, ... have the resources to change one's life. The only way I'm going to really change my life will be by changing old patterns. Also, only by mastering myself will I ever be able to help others. c) Am I living out the quality of the card I like (card 1) or just daydreaming about it? I think I am. I try to use the "intelligence of my heart" as much as possible. I have to, considering what I do in life. Of course, one can always improve oneself, and not going through life like the proverbial "bull in a china shop" is vital (at least to the way I see things). It's funny how I immediately gravitated towards this card as my preferred one. It's as if this stallion were talking to me, personally, reminding me of what really matters. d) What do I need to learn about the other two cards represented by card 3? The gelding Dominance clearly shows me two things. Only by having self-mastery can one help others, or be an example to them. Also, that people who are in a position of authority and, therefore, of some power have to use their talents to benefit not only themselves, but others, too. (Kohanov 34). However, when I look at cards 1 and 2, I realize that what I have to walk, always, is the middle ground. I have to exercise the intelligence of the heart without letting others take advantage of me, or without depleting myself emotionally. I've shared this with you, here, because it is the first reading I've done with this oracle (Jewel, I think, is the kind person who recommended it) and it speaks eloquently and deeply. I don't know if it's possible, but I would love to see other people's readings, here, or in posts linked to this one, especially if they're tackling a new deck or one that they've had and are newly exploring. Is it possible, VGimlet? <3
Whisper Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Yup, it's Bodhiseed :) Glad to see I'm in very good company, then. <3
GreenFaerie Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 -25 Celsius here so I need some HEAT Picking The Tarot of Fire for this week. I sympathize, Jema! I live in the very, very northern U. S. - seriously, almost Canada - and we routinely get this cold. We've been known to get down to -34 C - we had a terrible winter a couple of years ago where we were at that temp for about three weeks. Ridiculous. It's been, thankfully, mostly warmer this winter. We've only had a few days that were that cold. Stay warm! :)
CharlotteK Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Well the Norse and Thoth seem to complement each other very well. I used the Norse for main issues , behaviours and advice and the Thoth for supporting above /conscious / visible influenecs and below / unconscious/ hidden energies. I like how they work together a lot and the Norse is proving to be extremely readable with a nice vibe to it. Wish I had the book though. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
VGimlet Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 I know I’m a couple days off but could I still join? Or should I wait till next week? You can join in whenever you like. :) Often though I am not on as much during the week, so you MIGHT not get added to the list after Monday or so - but you can always join! We are the no-rules group, LOL.
