TheFeeLion Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Lately I’ve been playing around doing readings with my most recent acquisition (Thoth) and my Froud’s Faeries Oracle. And, holy moly, these two combined in a reading together really pack a punch! It got me thinking, “I wonder what decks other people find work really well together...” So I thought I’d ask and see what everyone has to say
EmpyreanKnight Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 For the Sacred Days of Yule group reading, I used the Sol Invictus: The God Tarot + Gods and Titans Oracle. The readings I got from them were quite inspired. :) I also paired the Osho Zen Tarot with the Osho Transformation Oracle, and I also got superb readings from them.
Whisper Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I've combined Tarot of the Hidden Realm with Froud's Faeries. Found it to be a very good combination. It was as if they recognized each other. LOL
Saturn Celeste Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 OMG, I have so many. After I decided I was going to read tarot professionally, I started to buy decks for all types of people and I often bought an oracle deck to go with the tarot. But now I find mixing them up can offer a different message than if I use a ‘matching’ oracle deck. Ironically I just pre-ordered the Santa Muerte oracle to go with the tarot. I also have the Tarot of the Dead I can use with the oracle. Some of my favorites are: Sacred India + Whispers of Lord Ganesha Dreams of Gaia + Messenger Oracle Femmes Erotiques + Vintage Wisdom LeGrand (Sideshow) Tarot + Divine Circus Vikings Tarot + Viking Oracle Nefertiti Tarot + Isis Oracle Egyptian Tarot + Egyptian Doors Sirian Starseed Tarot + Cosmic Reading Cards Dreaming Way + Dreaming Way Lenormand

Now that I have them both, I'll try it. You've mentioned quite a few oracles that I'm going to look at, especially the ones that you've paired with your Egyptian Tarots. Waiting for the Dreams of Gaia, so definitely going to take a look at the Messenger oracle. They're both by the same author, so it makes sense. What type of reading or question do you use this combination for? Ditto for your Egyptian themed decks?
Saturn Celeste Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Shivanni, my main reading style is spreadless- 3 tarot + 1 oracle. I usually ask the tarot what does my sitter need to know and I ask the oracle what is the oracle message. My intention with the oracle is as if I am consulting Delphi. If I do any spreads I will do the Celtic Cross or I make my own to go with the situation. I don’t care for spreads where there is a question attached to each card. I need to examine the situation as a whole. The oracle is like a wildcard. It can end up being a catalyst, additional insights or part of the tarot reply.
Jewel Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Waiting for the Dreams of Gaia, so definitely going to take a look at the Messenger oracle. They're both by the same author, so it makes sense. The Dragonfae also pair nicely with the Dreams of Gaia. Some of the cards from Dragonfae are by the author or Dreams of Gaia. I have paired the Druidcraft/Druid Animal Oracle and/or Druid Plant Oracle (usually if something sticks out in the reading that makes me want to add an oracle card). Working with the Fifth Tarot I have found myself pulling out all sorts of oracle decks (Dragonfae, Sacred Geometry, Crystal Oracle, various animal oracles, etc.)
TheFeeLion Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 I've combined Tarot of the Hidden Realm with Froud's Faeries. Found it to be a very good combination. It was as if they recognized each other. LOL I’ll have to check that one out [emoji16] I’m loving seeing what decks you all like to use together! I’ve also used my Faeries Oracle with the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards. Together they make for a BIG reading but they balance each other out nicely, and between them make the reading easier to grasp and understand [emoji4]
Audelia Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Loving this topic! I'm a fan of reading with multiple decks. My two main go-to combos are: The Wild Unknown + The Alchemist's Oracle and Any tarot deck + The Earthbound Oracle. Both of these oracle decks are fab for giving you a little bit more intuitive depth to each card in a spread :).
Whisper Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 ...the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards. Together they make for a BIG reading but they balance each other out nicely, and between them make the reading easier to grasp and understand [emoji4] Please tell me about the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards, Fee. Nearly picked them up, once, but was so unsure of them and what to do with them. [emoji4]

Nearly picked them up, once, but was so unsure of them and what to do with them. [emoji4] There’s 25 cards in the deck and each card has half of 4 pictures on it, so you need to lay out the whole deck into a big 5x5 square. Once layed out you can turn the cards to make whole pictures and then read just the whole pictures that have been formed. Sorry I don’t know if I’m explaining it very well! Sometimes you might get only 2 or 3 pictures, other times you might have 6 or more. Each picture has a different period of influence (immediate/short/middle/life), and a slightly different meaning depending on which direction it is oriented. They are less esoteric than a lot of tarot/oracle decks and are a true fortune telling deck. They have a whole system to themselves so you have to be prepared for a learning curve but once you get used to them they make for a great deck. The book that is with them is really great and gives you some background as well as some sample readings so you are better able to see how they work together. I’ve found that using a companion deck with it can help with the learning curve and also give a deeper understanding of what is going on in the reading. Although it can make for a HUGE reading lol! I think I picked them up through Book Depositary for $50-60NZD but I’ve seen them for as much as $120!

Might still consider them, given that they are based on a completely different system.
EmpyreanKnight Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Some more combos that I prefer: Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot + Pixie's Astounding Lenormand Sol Invictus: The God Tarot + Promethean Oracle Kabbalistic Visions Tarot + Kabbalah Cards Tarot of Vampyres + Les Vampires Oracle
Bodhiseed Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 All of my tarot decks are paired with an oracle deck or divination tool (see my profile for the full list, though it's not up-to-date ;)). Some of my decks are paired because of a common theme, like the Roots of Asia with the Mah Jong Cards. Others may not have a common theme, but have art that pairs nicely together, like the Spirit Within Tarot paired with the Answer Deck. Other pairings have no rhyme or reason, like the Wheel of Change and Oracle of the Dreamtime. But to stay paired, they have to work well together when I do a reading. ;D

Trying to think, now, what I could pair with my Mary-El...
