AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted April 17, 2018 Author Posted April 17, 2018 I know. I'm dying to know if a 300.00 forum is any different than a 3.00 forum...

Guest Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 wow...you know i get those emails all the time and I have never read one, mwahahaha. thank you so much I am now sure I put all those emails in the proper place. >:D
DanielJUK Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 I loved biddytarot when it was a small website! Now it's a huge business. That course with discount (regular price $1297) is just $997! :o (or $179 once a month for six months). it's not worth it! I notice the blurb carefully does not say that it will get you business or better your tarot profession, that price gives you confidence ::)
MollyCat Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 The course costs a LOT of money. The founder of Biddy Tarot is a local woman. I remember when she was first around in 2004/5. I have noticed that she has been doing good training for a few years but not as grand as this seems to be. In 2006, I found an excellent reader through my local Tarot Guild. She was a former teacher and had to go through an accreditation process with the Guild. I think it included written and verbal readings. She read from home and had set up a beautiful reading room. This woman was very good and well connected in the entertainment industry so she had good access to clients. She still could not make a decent living through Tarot and still had to do part-time teaching to manage. I chose her because she was accredited by the Guild and I liked her profile. I really liked her too and we had a great chat about everything. Later, I attended some of her classes. Before that I had an awful reading from a street reader and a not very good one from the owner of a country esoteric business.so deliberately sought someone whom I could be sure knew the basics. Nevertheless, I wonder whether people realise how hard it is to be a professional Tarot reader! I wish Biddy well. The training will be good but I think there is a lot more to reading than just technical training.
Shinsoo Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I'm sorry, but who the heck would spend that amount of money on Tarot certification? I actually get better by studying with other people and of course, by doing readings. I do not need a class, lol It's like that with the Reiki profession too--there are a lot of Reiki practitioners out there who spend tons of money to get some silly certification and I'm like...why. WHY. There might be a small amount of clients who will only trust 'certified' Reiki healers, but many who seek out Reiki practitioners are very much believers in the art already and recognize that Reiki does not need to be certified--it is Universal energy, it is perfect as it is and flows exactly to where it's needed. It cannot harm you at all. It's people like this who exploit the spiritual realm and the gifts it has for us that really bugs me. People are already wary enough as it is. With so many charlatans and profiteers out there, it's damaging the reputation of what spiritual gifts can do quite a lot. -Shinsoo
skywatching Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 So it's an exclusively for the rich club ??? I'm Australian so it costs even more $997 USD = $1284.48 AUD We are basically still paying the full price....no discount there Biddy ::) I remember back when she was going to be starting her own forum I was really interested in joining and signed up to the wait list. Then when I finally got the email saying it had opened and saw how much it would cost, it turned me right off her.

Sad - she used to have loads of really good free stuff. Adding courses that people could afford might have tempted me, but not this. I remember back when she was going to be starting her own forum I was really interested in joining and signed up to the wait list. Then when I finally got the email saying it had opened and saw how much it would cost, it turned me right off her. I went that route too. I think she will lose rather than gain - and that's a shame because she really knows her stuff.
Hedera Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Whoa, that is a *lot* of money... I guess she doesn't make enough from doing readings, then. ;-) I listen to her podcast occasionally when she has an interesting guest; but she is not a very good interviewer, she basically replies 'wonderful' or 'fantastic', then moves on to the next question. There is no real interaction there, no real conversation. And she had never even heard of Calvino's 'The Castle of Crossed Destinies', when someone mentioned that.
Guest Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 she reminds me of miss cleo I hate to say edit- in case some younger people are here. Miss Cleo was a pay per call psychic from the late 90's. Sued for fraud by the government, her tarot readings were read by others, often scripted, fees and charges were made without being authorized or over charged...she was a scam from top to bottom. she had millions of tarot cards printed i found cases of decks at a variety store, for $3 a deck now.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 as an insomniac I loved watching Miss Cleo, not for the 'hey that's too far out there' but her. I thought she'd make a great neighbor. I'm sorry the gullible got caught in the money web, apparently common sense was more costly than hope. and I'm sure that initially planted the seed of 'hey I'll study the history, art, and practice of tarot back in 2006. I'm not putting Biddy down, people will always be gullible and that money isn't buying drugs or something worse. And I stay on her email list because it feels so good when my eyebulbs bulge out of their sockets.

MollyCat Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 What I was trying to say earlier m in a long winded and too careful way is that you can get accreditation if you want it from respected organisations at a much lower cost. Accreditation is a good thing to have if you want to become a professional reader. Biddy Tarot’s course seems well thought out and well structured. Her fees are consistent with TAFE fees here and also with the fees charged by astrology schools, as a relevant comparison. If you’re a beginner and have the money, why not? The course could provide a good foundation for a life-long exploration. I read last night that Biddy had received over 100 enrolments so that’s not a bad beginning.
Little Fang Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I read last night that Biddy had received over 100 enrolments so that’s not a bad beginning. If that's true I'm in the wrong field! :o

MollyCat Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Creating esoteric businesses is sometimes controversial. Aeclectic grew over time and as a web designer with an interest in Tarot, Kate Hill had the right set of skills for the moment. She seemed well motivated too, and concerned for her community. People wanted the Forum and the site offered a lot to the Tarot community. Bridget of Biddy Tarot is a nice person as well, and she has clearly thought a lot about what she is doing. She seems to be entrepreneurial as well, but with a social conscience. Her business model is different from that of Aeclectic but they are both businesses which serve good purposes. From little things, big things grow as Paul Kelly’s song says. I am just intrigued that two such large Tarot businesses could grow out of Australia, so far away from the Europe, where Tarot began and from the US which seems to be to be the centre of a more modern spirituality.

Guest Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 it would seem i may have been a bit harsh comparing Biddy to Ms. Cleo. I would probably sell out to if I had the chance....i know I would... all the same in my defense I gotta say spamming me with emails like an Ethiopian Prince with a great business opportunity ;) does not seem like a proper technique for someone that is approaching the world through a holistic and spiritual avenue. I would never have thought otherwise if not your previous comments.
chongjasmine Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I am interested in the course but it is a bit too expensive for me.
