'Reach for more'- baskets, or baskets full of 'working-decks'

This is an idea that I originally saw on Kelly-Ann Maddox's Youtube channel (

). She has a basket where she places all the decks that she feels are a bit neglected and that she wants to work more with.

I really liked the idea, but it wasn't exactly what I needed at the time. I have realized that I don't feel particularly guilty about the decks that gets less use, and that I want to rotate my decks in a more organic matter. I'm a Gemini and I rarely get stuck with one thing for long, so having to make sure that I rotate things is not an issue in my life. The thing that I DO need to work on, however, is to focus my energies and prevent myself from feeling scattered. I tend to have several projects going at once, and this is normally something that I love and feel very happy and stimulated from. So I won't try to change that. But I will try to keep myself on course with the projects that I choose, and make sure I finish them. Avoiding constant distractions is a big thing for me!

So what I decided to do is to take out all the decks that I truly love working with and that I feel add the most to my life/practice. (A bit like the 'If you were going on a trip for 6 months and could only bring X amount of decks/books with you'-challenges that have been floating around on Youtube). And I put all of them in a basket so that I can easily reach for them. I added some books as well. Now I won't have to feel distracted every time I open my drawers and look for a specific deck, and I can just keep focusing on what I want to work with right now.

I actually surprised myself with some of my picks. I had thought that there would be more tarot decks, but when it came down to it I decided to take only two tarot decks and 5 oracle decks. Several of those oracle decks are new to me, so I added their guide books as well.

Now I want to hear what you guys think! Do you have a 'reach for more' basket or perhaps a basket for your most used decks? Why, or why not?

If you had to select, lets say 10 decks and three books (you can be more strict if that suits you better, but I prefer having many options myself!) to put in your basket, what would you choose?

I will share a picture of my very humble basket (a picked a really practical plastic one that I found in our closet, nothing fancy whatsoever).

Ooh I love Kelly-Ann, I've only just discovered her on YouTube so I've been binge-watching  :D

I think it's a great idea, and I would use it for decks/books that I have neglected/need getting acquainted with.

I can't list 10 but I would put in -

WU Animal spirit

The Goddess oracle

Wild unknown tarot

Druidcraft tarot (and book)

Books I'd put in would be -

Tarot for yourself

The tarot playbook

:)

Yeah, Kelly-Ann is such an inspiration. I really love that chick! I like to listen to one or her "rambling witch" episodes while I do crafts or home chores  <3

I’ve heard about people who use baskets like this, but how clever to make a prompt out of it!  :D

I think my choices would be...

Slow Holler

Thea’s Tarot

Next World Tarot

Prisma Visions Tarot

Numinous Tarot

Minimalist Oracle

Wild Unknown

Color of Story Lenormand

Delta Enduring Tarot

and the Fountain Tarot

These are the decks I find myself wanting to use for specific questions or situations often.

As for books... The guide for the Thea and the Numinous, and perhaps 78 Degrees of Wisdom.

What an interesting selection! Thanks for sharing  <3

I had to do exactly this - when we moved house and put all our furniture into storage for an unknown period of time. It turned out to be just 5 weeks in rental until the house was empty for us to move into, but it might have been months. I took a couple that were so hard to find I was afraid of losing them or them being damaged in storage, and then my favourite decks that I enjoyed looking at and working with.

So here's what I took with me  :)

Pathwalker, you are sitting on some nice value of cards.  Some of those must be hundreds of dollars by now!  I don't think I could go 5 weeks without my cards, it would be traumatic for sure!

I don't use a basket but I do periodically pull decks out and spend some time with them.  I live in Florida and humidity is really nasty for the cards so I'll go through days that I'll just pull out my unused decks, spend time with them and make sure to shuffle them thoroughly.

SaturnCeleste: I have never had to deal with high levels of humidity, so I am curious - how does one store decks in a safe way when it’s really humid? Is there something special to consider?

We run an air conditioner so it’s not that bad but I pray the unit does not break!  I have a cabinet for most of the tuck boxes, a bookcase for larger boxes and a table for smaller boxes.  All tarot bags are stored on a large case.  I never keep unprotected cards out but that’s more because of the cats than the weather.  The best thing to do for the cards is to keep them shuffled. ;)

Then you have a natural incentive to keep using your cards. That could be quite a blessing in disguise  <3

Only 10???? are kidding me???? LOL.  OK so I consider the books that come with my decks as part of them, so if I have the deck and it has a book the book comes so I cannot add companion books as separate or part of the count ... just cannot do it lol.  If I could only take 10:

1.  Froud Faeries Oracle - hands down this comes first.

2.  Tarot of the Sidhe

3.  Greenwitch Tarot (and companion)

4.  Oracle of the Dragonfae

5.  Wizards Tarot (and companion)

6.  Victorian Romatic (and companion)

7.  Tarot of the Sweet Twilight

8.  The Fifth Tarot (and companion)

9.  Special Topics in Tarot:  Tarot for Self Discovery

10.  Tarot Interactions

Honestly??? My basket would be like Hermoine Granger's purse from Harry Potter with an unlimited capacity  ;D  But in a pinch I could live (for a short time) with the list I provided above.  As noted, I consider companion books a part of my tarot decks so they don't count LOL.

I completely agree on the companion books as being part of the decks, that is such a no-brainer. And anything Hermoine Granger is just awesome!
