Hi! I'm Amber. I'm in my late 20s and have been "studying" Tarot for the past year and a half or so. I bought my first Tarot deck (RWS) around the age of 13 or 14 and then my second deck (Celtic Dragon Tarot) shortly after, but I never really connected with either deck at the time and I was unable to focus on learning and eventually lost the interest. Around the same time, I also got my first Oracle deck (Brian Froud's Faeries' Oracle) and I really, really connected with it but over the years I just sort of stopped practicing. Tarot has always been in the back of my mind as something I would still like to learn and about 2 years ago the desire came back stronger than ever and I purchased a new deck and started really making an attempt at learning!

I do not have anyone in my life that is really interested in learning Tarot and I wanted to connect with people that share a similar interest of mine and learn from much more experienced Tarot readers, so here I am. :)

Hi Amber! Welcome :)

Im only a couple weeks here myself, and also dont know anyone interested in Tarot, which is what also brought me here. I was also looking for practice reads because i didnt know anyone who "trusted" Tarot cards with a reading.

I recently joined a couple of Tarot circles (new ones happen every month, i think) where we're all reading for eachother under certain guidelines, i recommend you check it out.

See you around :)

Ooh, thanks! Have you read James Ricklef's "Tarot Reading Explained"? It used to be called "Tarot Tells the Tale". He did readings for famous fictional characters (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, etc) and it has been so helpful to me because I don't have anyone to really practice on for "fun" and do not feel comfortable enough yet to practice on real people that I am not super close with yet, as I don't want to give a "bad" reading to a stranger. Practice readings on fictional characters is a lot of fun and gives good practice without needing to subject myself to the pressure of reading for someone while I still feel like such a beginner. :)

Hi Pixie, welcome to the forum! Your journey sounds quite similar to mine- I got my first deck when I was a teenager but never really connected to it or learned to read, but I always felt drawn to tarot and eventually came back many years later, found a deck I connected with and started really studying and working with tarot. Glad to have you in our community!  <3

Welcome to TT&M!  :D  I love the book Tarot Tells the Tale!  I would also highly recommend 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card, it is a workbook by Mary Greer.  I recommend people to do all 21 Steps using the Apprentice level, and when completed go back and do all 21 Ways at the Journeyman level.  It takes time and dedication, but you will walk away feeling confidence in yourself and knowing you have grown. It is a blend of academic study and learning to read intuitively as well.

Glad to have you with us!
