All right - I feel fully *enabled* now to start this thread...

Consider yourself duly warned!! This is a place to post questions, comments, salivations and solicitations about the decks that are our and others' objects of (potential) desire....

So I'll get us started off... do I really need to save up all my lunch money for the next 10 months to nab a copy of the Victorian Romantic? And if so: does it matter which edition???

Oh heck yeah! I've got that one on my ever-expanding wish-list! I love the images I've seen of this one. Don't look to me to de-enable you on this ... I'm saying go for it!

I have all the editions, and love all of them. Baba is putting out a new edition, but not sure when. Will definitely get that one, too.

I have the standard version, and I love everything about it.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Urban Tarot?

Anyone have any thoughts on the Urban Tarot?

I only have that one as an app on my mobile (great way to test out new decks cheap by the way) and it is a bit hit and miss for me, some cards are really kinda ugly and some stunning. I like the setting though, modern and techno. Also the book seems to be rather good at least from the meanings for the cards I see in the app.

Not sure I would actually buy it as a physical deck though (but only cause I have too many already)

So my suggestion - get the app!!

Yeah, this one is also on my ever-expanding wish-list. I love the modern images in it.

I'll have to check into the app, thanks jema!

Dangit!!! I was just looking on the AT list of decks to see what one deck looked like and discovered the English Magic Tarot! My Amazon wish-list is getting a bit long ...

Anyone have opinions about Suckling's Dragon Tarot? I know there are a few dragon decks (Pracownik's Dragon Tarot and the Celtic Dragon Tarot are the other ones that come to mind for me), but I recently saw Suckling's and I think this is the one I like the best. It kind of seems like a quintessential fantasy deck to me, and I feel like maybe my collection could use something like that. Anyone have thoughts on this one? Should I wish list it? :)

I'm honestly a bit torn on this deck (I do own it). Size wise, the cards are a bit shorter than most of my other decks, so feel a little more square. Card stock is good--not omg amazing, but definitely not bad. It's Thoth based, I'm pretty sure, if that makes a difference to you. As for the images....honestly, I love most of them, but they feel so small on the physical deck. When I was looking at them online they're so large and powerful. The actual deck has pretty wide, white borders that really make the images feel cramped. Especially the darker ones.

Should you get it? Well that's honestly up to you. If you're feeling called by it, go for it! I don't regret owning it at all.

I had no idea there was an app for it! I'll try it out and see how it reads.

I see what you mean about the art. The majors (and the Cups!) are beautiful but the other, more pip-like cards are a bit CG-looking for my taste. Good to know about the book! I'm trying to decide, if I do buy the deck, if I should go for the $22 full guidebook as well.

Its Thoth system made me interested in it, as I'm planning to learn the Thoth and you don't see many decks based on it.

I can see what you mean by the card size. I think for me it'd help with some of the cards that have a more jarring papercut art style (similar to the Idiosyncradeck's big white borders being helpful for the vector style) but I can see it detracting from some of the more detailed cards.

Apps are great for testing new decks. I'm currently playing with the Zirkus Magi deck app and I'll probably get this one eventually. The Housewives Tarot was not for me. It's fun and cute, but I didn't connect with it. My go to deck is the Steampunk Tarot. While I still prefer physical cards to virtual ones, I like having the book on my iPad & phone so I don't have to drag it with me in addition to the cards.

There are a few sampler decks that I believe are free. You can try one and see if you like how it works. The samplers are a little all over the place for readings for me - it's cards from four different decks per sampler app - but it showed my I like the setup and having the digital version of the companion book. They've also showed me some decks I might be interested in and some I'm deffinately not.

I do love it, but be warned it has plain pip cards. But the feel of the landscapes and the dragons, really nice  :)

Honestly, I'm pretty so-so on that one - perhaps because it has a lot of figurative stuff and that's not my favourite. But the work is well done, their card stocks are usually really nice, and unless you're a collector rather than a user I don't think it would matter which version.

Enjoy if you get it

Oh, there is a mini which is good if you've got small hands or shuffling issues.

And in the true spirit of the thread - who can say anything to me to save me from Pagan Otherworlds tarot

http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/pagan-otherworlds-tarot/

The artwork is lovely, but doesn't inspire much intuitive thought when I look at the cards. Unless it's something like the person wondering how he or she got entangled in a wad of vines or briers. ;D A friend who recently got the deck said she noticed a lot of the same background art had been pasted in multiple cards. If you want beautiful artwork, go support your local arts council. If you want a deck you can read on multiple levels (for a cheaper price), look elsewhere!

(How's that? :D)

Oh brutal but it made me laugh  :)

I haven't bought a new deck in ages, just some second hand things I've pondered for ages (and only a couple of those) I was so wanting to find something I loved enough to splurge on and hardly feel any guilt.

Perhaps not this one . . . .  :)

I hope people don't mind me resurrecting this thread from a year ago.

Modern Spellcaster's tarot - yay or nay? I like the boldness and vividness of the artwork (and the cards are borderless!), but I also feel like the people in the artwork appear grim and unfriendly, for lack of a better word. I'm not sure how I'll relate to it if I get it and am wondering about people's experiences with the deck?

I wouldn't mind some opinions on the Zillich - really liked the look of it but it's Thoth based...

Also the Spiritsong, pros and cons?

I'm hankering after a new deck, not had one since Christmas, but finding the right one is difficult...

I'm now in the habit of asking my trusted decks for their opinion before making that purchase - they have saved me a lot of money so far although I regret not consulting them before buying a few Doreen Virtues on impulse from a local shop :-[.

The Zillich is a lovely deck. It’s the perfect size, comes in a tin and the use of watercolour leads to flowing readings. It is based on the Thoth images but the artist has definitely taken her own direction and it’s not full of symbolism. It can easily be read without being steeped in all things Thothian. [emoji3]

Here are some images so you can see the style:

There are a couple of small printing errors

on this edition but, for me, it didn’t detract from reading with it.

It does look lovely and I am so tempted. I like that it's in a tin as well!

Thoth based isn't a bad thing I was just looking for a deck would use rather than one for the collection - though the last two I bought definitely for using (Dreaming Way and Chrysalis) didn't work out.

Ok, Zillich is on the list with the Spiritsong and the Linestrider!

Love those watercolors (long sigh...).  ;D

My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I've been curious about the Mesquite Tarot over at littleredtarot. I have some more decluttering to do among my decks (thinking about keeping around 20 decks and have 5-10 out for regular use), so I'm not in a rush to get it but if anyone has it and want to list some pros and cons for me I'd much appreciate it  ^-^ I love the colour palette and the small size seems nice for shuffling, but the sparseness of the imagery is both appealing and worrisome. Still, I was positively surprised by the Wild Unknown so who knows?

I wasn't into it when I first saw it on the crowd funding, but I got a chance to see it in person thanks to a friend a couple weeks ago.  It is SO good.  I'm not usually into minimalism, but this was just the perfect amount.  It was also a good size.  It's going on my wish list.
