A bit about me...

Hello wonderful people! 

 

I guess I should take the time to finally say hi and tell you all a little about me  

 

I love parties and presents, fairy tales (particularly the older more original ones - my grandfather used to read them to me from a big old readers digest book that I still have), mythology, a bit of classical history, fantasy books (I read WAY too much lol), Brian Froud, crystals (I got given a 1 kg bag of mixed tumble stones as an early birthday present from my lovely man :D ), painting, glitter, creating my own skincare, doing massages (and getting them!) among other things.

 

I've worked in a print shop and vineyards, as a bartender (mmm cocktails! :D ) and waitress, and a nearly four years ago decided to finally get some kind of qualification. So now I am a qualified beauty therapist and have found what I hope to be a lasting career (although that isn't going so well at the moment, I do hope to eventually combine massages and other beauty treatments with doing readings for people). 

 

I got my first deck (Froud's Faeries Oracle) about 15 years ago but have only really properly been working with it in the last year. I discovered AT while I was searching where I could get a new version of a card I was (am still) missing from my second copy of the faeries. I now have 2 additional decks (Messenger Cards and Russian Gypsy Fortunetelling Cards) and have just ordered my first tarot deck (thanks to all of you enablers out there lol). I've been using a tarot app to get a feel for the cards and their meanings, and think I may have a go at doing some readings for people with it soon. Although I'm not sure how good I'll be at that, I do know it'll help immensely 

 

I currently have 13 guides (so the cards tell me) including Spider (pointing out all those lovely connections everywhere), Black Panther (who I found after doing a past life meditation where I discovered I had been a man in the 18th century, a one eyed shaman in a dirt hut, and finally a physical representation of a goddess somewhere in Egypt. The last one was where Panther made themselves know and came back with me :D ) and a dragon who has recently raised her firey head to make herself known.

 

Well, that was a lot more than I thought I was going to write! Lol oh well.

Your story is very similar to mine! I got my first deck when I was 13, but I haven't really learned to probably read the cards until I found AT.  :P

Hi TheFeelLion!!! It's great to see you here! I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with the new Tarot deck after working with Oracles. My first Oracle deck is winging it's way to me as we speak. I've only used Tarot decks so far, so it will be interesting to compare how we do with transitioning from one to the other.

 

I got a glimpse of a couple of my guides several years ago when I did some scrying with the intent of connecting with them. Fortunately, that was one of the posts I remembered to save before The Forum went down. I just looked and it was clear back in 2003. I hope to do more scrying with the intent of connecting with more of my guides, but I've got a bit of self-work to do before I get there I think.

 

Anyway, it's great to have you here and I'm looking forward to your posts. :D

I've found a lot of oracles can frustrate me by being too fluffy or or having too few cards. I think I've been spoiled by my froud Faeries lol. I would love to compare note with you :D

 

I did a spread I found on AT to find out how many guides I had and who wanted to have a chat. I thought when I started it that only a couple might want to say anything but no. All of them wanted to say hi, and one wanted two goes! Lol It took me AGES to get through that lot. 6 cards. One card at a time (I was using my app). Fourteen times over. Is still haven't read/figured it all out lol.

Hello and welcome, Thefeelion!  Lovely introduction!  btw, I also have the black panther/jaguar as my main guide.  I had spider as well, and perhaps still do, though I begged spiders pardon and asked it to stop coming to me as spiders are scary to me and I have a TERRIBLE fear of them.  I just can't get use to seeing spider.  So, either the Universe answered my call and honored my request or Spider is hiding in the shadows and still "guiding" me.  ;D  Whatever works! :)

I don't know if you saw it, but Linnie ran a little give-away on AT before it closed down. I won her A'HA Oracle! I'm quite excited ... it should be here soon ... maybe by the end of the week? I hope so anyway. I've also been looking at the Medicine Cards deck, a friend has it and really likes it, though doesn't use it as much as he'd like. But anyway, that A'HA deck should be here soon and I'll finally be prompted to branch out to Oracles.

 

I've been thinking about trying one of the Spirit Guide readings. I know I've got two who showed themselves when I was scrying several years ago - I may re-post that thread, I'd saved it from AT. I'd like to get to know them better as guides and see what others I have.

 

I had been thinking of PM'ing you to see if you'd gotten that e-mail. I hope you found it useful ... :)

Spider can be persistent!  There was a period for a while where I was seeing a whole lot of rather large white tails around my house, they're one of the very few that are even remotely poisonous where I live. My partner even decided to keep one as a pet! :o Thankfully he no longer has it, and after I finally realised she was trying to send a message I told her "message received loud and clear, you don't need to be quite so forceful any more" she stopped putting white tails in my path. Now I mainly see webs or the eeny-weeny not-so-scary ones :)

 

Maybe you could do some spreads to find out what the message for you is? Or ask for gentler reminders of the message?

Ooo exciting! That A'HA deck looks pretty interesting.  I like that there's actually a decent amount of cards too. I find I have trouble figuring out how to use decks with the typical 40 or so cards. I like having the flexibility to do bigger spreads if I want to and that amount of cards just doesn't cut it for me.

 

If you do repost it I find my list of guides and post too :) I used this spread to find and converse with them. Although I still need to go through the card meanings (I decided to be ambitious and used a tarot app one card at a time lol). Good thing I wrote it all down! :D

 

Yes I did find your email useful, it's another thing I have to go back to to sort through :)

I would bet that Spider is simply working from the shadows ... not wanting to frighten you. I'd also bet she is slowly working on reducing that phobia of yours ...

I just bent a card for the first time in my 10 years of using them.

 

If your deck is still in print you can contact the publisher with sweet talk, they usually keep

keep some broken decks just for this reason.  Always order your decks as soon as you get

them, missing and extra cards are not uncommon
