gentle Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Hi there, everyone! I’m new to any kind of spiritual practices but I’ve taken an interest in tarot (and divination in general) looking for self-improvement and spiritual guidance in life. The only deck I currently have is from childhood and was used in only one reading for a friend in fifth grade. I don’t remember the details other than she cried, saying that it was true, and I confusedly consoled her afterwards. I’ve ordered the Rider-Waite Centennial deck to start learning tarot, as well as a fluorite pendulum and black bowl for water scrying. We’ll see what sticks. Divination is certainly fascinating. I’m shy so I may not interact often, but I look forward to learning from the wisdom of others on this forum! -Kris
chongjasmine Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Welcome to this forum. I am new to tarot myself.
Trogon Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Howdy Gentle and welcome to the family! We're happy to have you with us. The Tarot is an excellent tool for the things you've mentioned, there are many very good spreads that can help you with your spiritual growth, as well as meditating and studying on just one or two cards. I use a pendulum a fair bit and find it to be very useful for certain kinds of questions or issues. Also good for finding things. ;) Scrying can be considerably more difficult. I have found that I have to be in the "right place" spiritually in order to scry effectively. Meaning that I can't just pick up my crystal ball on the spur of the moment like I can with a Tarot deck. Rather, I have to do some preparation and meditation before hand (how much preparation and meditation depends on how long it's been since I've done such work). However, you can get some amazing information from scrying since you're directly seeing things ... it can be very enlightening, but can also be confusing, so you'll also want to be prepared for meditation on what you've seen.
gentle Posted June 10, 2018 Author Posted June 10, 2018 Scrying seems like it is difficult and needs a significant amount of time and perserverance to get into. From what I have heard, it seems like everyone has their own ways of preparation... I’m excited to get started learning about everything. Thank you both for the welcome!
Bookworm Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I'm glad you found your way to the forum. I'm strictly a tarot person, but there's a lot more going on here as well. :)
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 welcome Gentle, love your avatar, makes me want to hug you. we are all new at something all the time, that equals all kinds of growth. I learned tarot by reading everything I could get my hands on, other read by sitting down and offering readings, using feedback as growth. come often, talk often, that is how a forum stays alive.

gentle Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 My new deck and pendulum have arrived, so I've not been active online lately in order to study all these subjects I've taken upon myself haha. Thank you guys for the warm welcome! <3
Jewel Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Welcome to TT&M. This is a very warm and friendly community always ready and willing to lend a hand, a safe environment to learn. I wish you many rewards on your new quests. I am mainly a tarot/oracle person, dabble a bit with crystals, but there are sections of the forum here dedicated to all types of divination. I hope you enjoy the community.
EmpyreanKnight Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 The Centennial is one of my absolute favorite decks, and I know you'd learn so much from/with it. Glad to have you here, Kris. :)
