Court de Gébelin Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Pretty much everyone seems to agree that a Tarot reading isn't going to give you the next winning lottery numbers, or the name of the horse that will win today's race, or the closing price for XYZ stock on Wednesday next week. If that's true, then what, exactly, does the Tarot tell you about the future? I think it works this way: Events seem to flow as a sort of continuum, with the past seen as effecting the present, and the present thought to have some influence on the future. So, by examining the present, and coming to see it from different perspectives, expectations for the future may be focused, and the scope of those expectations may be narrowed. Based on such information, a querent will feel a stronger sense of confidence in the direction future events may take. This is not specific information, but rather indications of relative likelihood. For example, a typical querent comes to ask about her relationship with "Bill." "Is he right for me?" "Will he propose marriage?" Now, here we see the two types of questions. "Is he right for me?" is asking about the present, with future implications. Whereas, "Will he propose marriage?" is about a specific future event. A skillful reader might say to the querent, "Well, let's see what the cards have to say about your prospects with Bill." And then, the spread and reading will delve into elements of that relationship, resulting in either overall positive or negative indications for its long term success. Based on the results of the reading, the querent will make her own assumptions, and draw her own conclusions. If pressed for an exact answer regarding a proposal of marriage, the skillful read would say something along the lines of: "All indication from today's reading look favorable for a proposal sometime soon. But remember, circumstances can change. The future is only a product of what happens between now and then." If the reading has been handled skillfully, the querent will have learned something about herself, something about her relationship with Bill, and most likely, something about Bill. She should leave the session feeling well served and happy, regardless of not having been given a definite "Yes" or "No" answer to the proposal question. That's the way I see it. Comments?
DanielJUK Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 oh I totally agree. I do use divination for future predicting but I cannot guarantee it, there are just too many factors! I have seen future predictions described like a weather report, in some areas of the world (like here), predicting the weather is really complicated because it's so changeable and with so many factors! Sometimes a weather forecast of 24 hours is wildly out of date and the Met Office here don't officially publish more than 10 days of forecasts for consumers (but do do longer ranger for corporate clients), they don't even call it forecasts but 10 day "trends". So you can say something is going to be like that tomorrow but actually thunderstorms come along unexpectedly. Their forecasts are the best predictions based on the info they have at the time, like divination. Also I think there is a "Sliding Doors" movie type factor, what happens if someone is predicted to meet their love but then take a different train. Freewill and other factors can totally change a prediction! This can be good if people get a bad prediction or a warning but not good for predicted marriage. Taking the present into account, if someone wants to know if they will marry a random guy in their street, it's probably not going to happen if they have never even talked to him or know his name ;D I think the important thing as readers is to leave the sitter with the best possible advice for them to manifest what they want in future, we can't make things happen or make them take advice but we do the best we can in the reading :)
Flaxen Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Also I think there is a "Sliding Doors" movie type factor, what happens if someone is predicted to meet their love but then take a different train. Freewill and other factors can totally change a prediction! This can be good if people get a bad prediction or a warning but not good for predicted marriage. I had this sort of scenario recently. I did a Lenormand Grand Tableau for my sister and one of the things which came us was delays and complications regarding a trip. I gave a general warning that she might want to be careful of traffic when setting off on holiday as she was going to a popular tourist destination. She took this advice on board and left very early in the morning, had a trouble free journey and missed all the heavy traffic that had built up later in the day. Her free will allowed her to take evasive action which meant my prediction didn’t ‘come true’ for her. I think we take a snapshot of a moment in time, follow the patterns and threads and make predictions based on that. However, where it’s possible to make a choice, the outcome can be changed.
