hierophant Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 So far, I've only been offering free readings online at a forum and anonymously. How do people find you? Offering readings for friends would be odd, because I know them, and that could make me biased. I've gotten 95% positive feedbacks so far, so I guess that makes me want to continue learning more.
Marisa Kirisame Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Offering them to acquaintances you're not sister-close to (such as colleagues, friends out of touch or just not-so-close friends) won't make you biased, and even close friends have private life they usually don't tell you. Love life, one of the most prevalent themes for divination, just so happens to be a topic people often find reluctant to share. Even then, due to Tarot card meanings being rather broad (they're a concept, not something concrete), you would need the querent to provide contextual information so you can narrow down the interpretation. Usually this information comes in form of the initial question, but if it's too scarce, you can and should ask a bit more when you encounter a card the exact meaning of which can vary depending on the querent's situation. This also makes it a bit easier to read for friends or acquaintances, whose context you might already know. You might be afraid of your subconsciousness building your reading based on the excess of information you have, telling your friends what they want to hear, but it actually won't happen as long as you follow the cards you dealt (it might even be the opposite of the idea they're clung to). Swords are Swords, and the Tower is Tower, no matter how depressing it may be for them. Still, the cards don't force the future, only offer a bit of a guidance - and that might console your friends or motivate them into action. By the way, I specialize in love & relationship readings.
DanielJUK Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 There are tarot reading sites online (some that pay you, some that are free) that are networks and you can make a name / reputation for yourself. I recommend trying to build a little brand, have a tarot reading name, like for example, "The hierophant's readings" and make a website (even a really basic free one). Make a blog maybe on it with sample readings and make it interesting that people would want to visit again. Go for social networking, have twitter / facebook / instagram / others with your brand, the trick is to make your channels / accounts interesting that a random person will start following you for your tarot and might want to get a reading. Have you thought about posting in our promotion thread here? It's free and I know I try and support my forum friends first than go elsewhere. Some people are posting threads there to get free practice readings on their website / blog. I think online is a great place to gather experience! If you want to do it offline, I would look for a local tarot or new age type shop, place with crystals sort of place. You might feel ready for that in future if you want to go more into this area. If you have made a brand and website of your readings, you can print cards and leave them all over the place and in the new age shop, just some ideas :)
hierophant Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Thank you both for the ideas. I guess I haven't been thinking big. I'm not really looking to make this a business or make a lot of money, but maybe sometime. If so, I'll totally use all your input DanielJUK[/member] Maybe a free website though. That's a good idea :)
