reading at the pow wow 2018,

i guys

 

I was looking for a professional tarot section,, but since there isn't one , I will post my discussion here.

 

this is my tenth year reading tarot at the pow wow,  yay , I am now 43,, a bit grayer,, hopefully more experienced.

 

ah where to begin, the master goal is to get 300 ,, a good goal is to get 250,, a standard goal is 200,, and anything less dont' bode well for the weekend goal of 500 to 600.

 

so I got up early alas,, I been training myself to wake up early all week but 730 am is too early for me.

anyhow I got up ,, slowly got ready,, we got down there about 1., got set up about 130.. and I started to read the tarot.

 

the first reading tarot experience was almost a disaster..

here are somethings off the top of my head..

1. the pow wow speaker was to loud (I was a bit closer )

2. for some reason the table which used to be so small, seemed so big to reach across.. soo.

 

I ended up asking them to sit besides me,, and everyone else today.  this was just after I posted about how I don't have anyone sit besides me but across as their energy seems to block me..

today it was totally diffent..it was like the spirits were saying nah it doesn't have to be that way ehe.

 

another thing is my nephew and his baby were sitting beside me that is ok, but his gf came and her two friends so I was trying to do a reading, and their energy field was blocking me I am sure.

so I told them to move out .. and she sat down beside me..

she offered to come back  this was the second card.. it was the king of wands reversed if memory servers.. and that was after I said "I feel like I am not connecting with you "

so she offered to come back later, however I felt that there was more to be said..

 

so with the energy cleared , she sitting next to me,, the flow for the cards started to flow better and by the end of the 5 cards I was starting to make connections. and was able to go back and explain the previous cards better.. still the king of wands reversed positions just didn't seem to work.

 

after some discussion she let me keep the money..  (I offered refund ) I sat there wondering what I did wrong energy wise. the first thing is the extra people who weren't supposed to be there showed up at the beginning of the reading and instead of moving on,, kept standing there talking.

(which is kind of funny for after I told my nephew to leave then a big gust of wind came and we needed them to help hold the gazebo down for about 14 minutes .. and my nephew said "we were just told to leave then we get called help us "

 

so the rest of the readings flowed better

and surpised me for I felt basic information of the card, was hitting them of course you may or not know I am a virgo so I have some high standards .

 

one person who knew me my whole life brought two people to get a reading,, and tried to get me to give them deals, as they only could afford 1 10 dollar reading "they from bc " which is across the country almost from northwestern Ontario ,, I didn't budge I said "I need the money for my new underwear " and they laughed at that.. so the deals stood.

I thought about taking out the 1 card for 10 dollars.. but truth be told it brought in 7 to 8 readings.. (70 to 80 dollars ) and each was accurate.

or rather,, of raising my prices but in this hardened economy who is going to pay 20 for 1 card ?

 

it was amazing for first 3 hours I had people after people. then the gusts came, and rain and hardly had anyone after that..

I made 350 dollars ,, which is a great record for first day,, however as some were regulars,, that could be some income that I might get on a sunday who knows how tomorrow will go.

 

so the emotional reading of the day surpised me..

I forgot to mention so I came back up before I hit post to talk doing my psychic excerise ,, I saw she had a brother,, and she said,, and we talked about how she loves him after I said she is worried about him. so talk about that a bit. before doing her reading.

it was a five card reading, she brought her friends to get her cards reads (for support I would imagine )

when I am on the subject it seems to be experience for many for a person to bring a friend for moral support ,I noticed it since the first at the pow wow and at the fair..

 

the moral support could be mother, aunty, sister, their child as they get their cards sometimes.. 

one girl today had her uncle, her mother,, her sister,, and her friend.. and no one complained as she got her cards read. (one close knight family ).

 

so going back to this precious 23 years female,,  we were all having a good time and I forget the other cards ,, I looked at the card and it was judgement reversed and I put it back down face down, and asked "how is your connection to god are you mad " and she laughed and she said yes..

so I turned it over (robin waite deck ) and I said "nevermind the nakeness " and described the phoenix returning from the dead.. and how it was a spiritual awakening , and I look back at her,,

those tearful blue eyes would melt anyone hearts.. I looked straight ahead and discussed it a tiny bit more,, and turned over the next card..

5 of cups reversed,. so I said "when you were about 19 you had a major loss " and discussed it a bit.. I looked at her the tears were there even more,, she didnt' cry out but her friends went quiet for they could feel her emotions.(I imagine, I didn't look around as if to draw attention to it,, for I don't think they could really see her eyes, the far two )

so not knowing what to do,, I opened up my heart,, and shared my own pain of the loss of my niece and how special time like the powwow I missed her.. and I pointed at the two of cups that were still standing on the card.. "but I remember her laugher, and her spirit that I carry with me " I looked at her and she nodded..

and with that her emotion lessened..i forgot the rest of the reading from there, yeah I forgot the soul message even .

it is rare but sometimes a reading will trigger emotion where  you expected it not.

 

I found in the times when it happened that I just look ahead and let them process their feelings instead of trying to nurture , or offer comfort..once I feel they had a bit of cry out,, I go on with the reading a bit and stop when they have a more emotion if any. 

 

I did have a lady come and pick the talking to heaven cards, it was right off,, so she asked for the tarot, I kept on with the talking to heaven (just for prosterity sake ) and we did the tarot .. alas  it didnt' flow as good .  I think it was because we knew each other a bit,, she was too was just coming out of a grieving period and was ready to retire soon and get more into spirituality.

 

one lady picked the deck with dark fairy tales, put it back and picked the romance cards by Doreen virtue and was going to put it back then decided to go with it..

so it was the you have a past life conection. (she took it to mean a past  connection in this life ) and the soul message was "you already know theperson " to which she agreed that she just met an old friend online from her young years..  wow I thought to myself.

 

I did do a reading where I was connecting with the husband a bit , (not full mediumstic but a connction ) so I talked about how good natured he is,, and how he;s been stressed..

then she shared "he is in spirit now , I should of told you that. " as she forgot when I asked if she had a husband. so the next card was the king of pentacles and underneath it was take from the past..the gifts.. so she shared how he was carpenter jack of all trades . and he did teach her ..

so we talked about the stress he felt for her as she was having a hard time..

the partner card showed up for 2 of swords so we talked a bit (she didnt' want a partner to go through that again ) so after talking and seeing 3 of wands I forget what position.. I talked about her starting a business and she said "yes she was thinking of that " so then I went back to the partner card and talked about it didn't have to be romantic but actual partnership.

 

I did make a bad joke 2 times.. and the joke was this " you in a relationship no,, you want to be " but the way I laughed it was like I was offering myself but also asking if they were open to one for it must of been a romantic card. or something .

so after my towards the end of the day ,, my mom who sits there said "you came on to two woman " and I said when "? and she talked about my joke.  hmm

that was one I used over the years . but still I could take it out. 

 

we were just sitting there talking about how some talk about removing psychic attachment or bad mojo..

 

and a reading or two later on, as I try to tune in psychically I saw a bit chai connecting to this lady. so I asked her if she heard of chord cutting ,, she said "you mean cutting chords woods "? and I smiled and said no actaull chords and I described it so I explain to her how to remove it with st Michael, and a bit where it came from and how it might be draining her, and she shared yes she felt drained the last 3 months..

 

oh I had the "read my palm " to which I said " I don't know how to do that " as I don't ..

 

to those who don't know , as this used to be posted on atf..

the last 4 years or there ,, before doing a reading with the tarot as it is shuffled ,, as I shuffle I try to connect psyhically and get some messages..

oh one time today I saw a horse and talked to her,, as I asked if she grew  up on a farm and she said no,, so I talked about animals,,and a horse I saw around her .. and she said "we did have a horse " and she loved that horse.. so I talked to her about how we natives talk to the spirit of the horse,, as not one horse but all horses as one. but she now has a horse spirit around her,, empowering her to travel.

but  yes, that is where I got the information about the husband.. and the horse, and the chain..

as I shuffle the cards I look around for some images, or messages.

 

well I am off to relax a bit on more day to go.

 

oh I forgot to say I asked one lady how was my accuracy she said "about 88 percent " I said good, for it was 50 percent then I am just guessing, and she laughed and said "yeah eh."

Thanks for recounting your reading experiences, Holmes. I only read for friends and family, and perusing these interesting and very human first-hand accounts give me vicarious feelings of accomplishment lol. It keeps me grounded and reminds me of one primary tenet that I subscribe to in my readings - that I must always try to help people with them tho never at the cost of honesty. My second belief is that I must always try to help myself too lol. >:D

 

Anyway, sometimes I dream of throwing caution to the wind and just putting myself out there. Maybe I will after I get through my nerves and become brave enough to actually do it. :) In the meantime, thanks a lot for these accounts, Holmes. Keep them coming. ^-^

day two the last day

 

today I will talk of themes , of particular cards and situations as some of the readings were long..

 

"THE OPPONENT"

 

another tarot reader showed up , and critiqued my prices , in particular my 10 dollars for one card price as she said in winnipeg she paid 35 for a reading , and i asked what spread did they use and she said she didn't remember as she wasn't allowed to record it and quoted some law that you are allowed to record what you pay for..

still enthused to meet another tarot reader i offered her to look at my decks "oh i got 20 or so decks i  am sure i got all you got " i said i got something lke 60 (beatsme i never counted but i got a cooler and half of tarot cards so i figure it must be like 60).  as i talked to her friend,, she looked at some of my decks and i heard "i hate angel tarots,, and the new fad. after i commented about being disappointed in doreen virute tarot she contintued "oh i believe in angels but hate angels in tarot ".

then offered to trade me a free reading here,, and wanted me to visit her house and get a reading from her.

i said "oh i dont' travel " which is true i stay home all the time..

perhaps it was her olive branch i don't know but she left almost like a huff,, her freind said "she might be back "

but didnt' come back.

i felt negative from this event, she even worked at walmart years ago,, but i don't remember discussing it with her at the dryden fairs.. it is possible to pratice and all the sudden run into someone who was a secret reader. after all someone must be buying the tarot at the local metaphysical store .

perhaps she picked it up on her own.. i do feel it was a battle of wills in some fashion.

who knows perhaps she will join the forum later on, and come back and comment on this in the later years.

 

the tower reversed as soul message.

 

as i talked to the person and i saw this card.. i went with a differnt meaning i wouldn't assocaite with the card (then again i don't know i would associate this meaning with ).  i said i am geting that there been accidents in your house ,, and she said accidents(oh yes she was a teenager).. yes i said stuff falling down,, noise on the stairs..

and she said  "yes ,  my moms hears stuff moving all the time" and so we talked a bit about the fear she has..and (she was nervously laughing shaking,, it was some a sort of release ) so i talked about the tower and rebuilding how the spirits get stuck.

and so talked about feasting the spirits and telling the spirit that we need to have peace here,, and that it is passed on and to go to the light.

 

9 of swords as things you can't change.

 

another lady  has children,, and i looked at the card,, and saw a vampire bat outside the window (don't ask me what deck it was i forget ) so started talking about the children having nightmares.. in particular her son..

i explained to her about how some children are naturally psychic and so they pick up all things in the day,, and have to process them in some fashion. i explained to her how the child sees a vampire bat in a movie and that night dreams about the vampire bat coming to him.

so talked about helping the child calm down.

 

soul message 2 of swords reversed for relationship.

 

the reading was going standard so and so (nothing major but no blockages like me going blank on a card ) so when we got to soul the soul message.. the card was there and i started to talk about how to improve the relationship with her husband,, about meeting the minds..and repoening the heart.  and  i looked at her and she moving her move in a crying fashion. suprised me so i talked a bit more about it. just sharing a bit making sure the point of the card was clear. (at least how i understood the card) . emotionally touched she left.

it wasn't as dramatic as the girl at first but as each one deals with emotion in their own way,, for her it touched something.

 

the man with the pug 

the first day of the pow wow he was walking his dog,, and I called him over,, he didnt' want to come but eventually come he did .

so he got there with his cute little pug (he almost wasn't going to ) I shared that we have a tradition at powwows that if a dog runs into the pow wow center, he is offering himself up to be eaten,, and must be cooked and fed to the people "!

(I heard that since I was 16 but I never seen it actually done ).  the announcer later on announced to be careful with your pets as they are not allowed in the pow center,, he didnt' say why though eheh.

my step dad was laughing as I was teling him that..

so the next day he walked over with his pug, and the little pug was so friendl and happy..

later on I saw him eating a plate of food NO PUG ! .

I ASKED HIM "DID YOU SACFRICE HIM FOR THE FOOD " as a joke..

he just smiled and said no.

he later on came for a tarot reading.

 

I asked him what he does for a living in generaly ,, he said "you tell me " as a joke not as a tester, I stammered so he said I help people.. hm I nodded as luck would have it, the six of pentacles was the first card !. and I shared how the six of pentacles is about giving to the people at least how I see it.. 

I did get stymed on a court card , but the rest of the card reading was good. I think he was happy with it.

 

the second last reading I did ,, there was a lot of coindences..

being traditional elderly lady (traditional means she pratices the native spirituality,, pipe, sweat lodges ).

she got the star reversed,, and I mentioned star woman, and how she kind of blocked her spirituality..

and she shared that after a long time she got just her pipe and was told "just do your best".

so I closed my eyes. and shared some ways of using the pipe with the stars I was getting in my vision ,,

I actually now forget the rest of the reading but she was happy with it.

 

numerology before the reading..

 

with this little teenager , i pulled out my phone and did the calculator and caluated her birthyear so it became justice (strenght if you are thoth system ) and high priestress and i described it to her, i guess it hit the points as her freinds like holy.

 

i did miss an reading for i was eating,, they said they would come back and i said are you sure ? , but they never came back.

also as i was packing up i had two reading opportunities that are missed for we were done for the day.

it used to be we would stay to like 10 , with lights. instead of quitting at 830, but my parents are older now and just now my mom came by tired as she was on her way home .

myself i was happily resting. when she suprised me eheh.

 

oh i only made 280 today luckily i made 350 yesterday so that still is my 600 goal reached !

 

oh one thing about me being in the stone ages is i missed a reading for "i wasn't set up for interace transfer " i have heard of this,, my mom does it, but me i am kind of nervous for what if someone uses it for ripping me off..i am not sure.

and another lady suggested it to me. . i am like what happend to paypal ??

 

in particular the day was windy,, but not stormy,, when i left the people were dancing happyily..

there wasn't much vendors , i was told there wasn't much dancers as well.  (not as many as we used to have legendary days, that is because there is another pow wow far away.

 

still i was proud for my people and my community..it is still going on the hill,might go to 1230.

i didn't go watch the grand entires as i used to,, i stayed.

 

we did have a special dance, for this year we lost a lot of people in our community,, 5 women, and one man..and one elder is sick.. so a memory dance, and healing dance was done in their honor.

 

there was lot of laughter,, spending time with my new grand nephew was special to me.. seeing my baby nephew now 20 looking after his boy.. the circle goes on.

hail, as my friend reminded in an email reply to my experiences yesterday, that to think as it been ten years at eagle pow wow that when she metme ,, I was 13 years into the tarot and haven't gone pro in tarot at all.

in fact if it wasnt' for aeclectic tarot and all the focused tarot readings ( focused meaning that using the tarot readings offer as training tools  aka past life, love, innerchild,, and so forth) I wouldn't have been prepared for reading the tarot live and even then..

 

my friend told me " yeah lets go ask if we can have a booth at the powwow you with your tarot,, and I will do my healings " and I said sure.. so we asked,, got permission..

and I went and set up my table heck I don't remember what I used for a table back ten lol ,

 

all I remember Is using just 4  tarots (and my hudes tarot is still bent from the rain that weekend) and a cheap sign my mom made with a folder, and I was by the lake..

 

and my friend didnt' show up,,

 

it kinds of reminded me of the Bernie mac joke and going to court to save his nieces and nephews, and says "your honor we are going to split custody " his brother turned his back on Bernie and didn't say anything .. "I am going to take the kids for six months,, and he is going to take the kids for six months ", his brother got up and walked out . and if he sees his brother ,,there going to be some furniture moving around..

 

so I was tricked.. but it turned out for the best ,, ten years later I have my spot,, , I get to play my craft,, and listen to my people music..

as you can see in the post for today, I even run into challenges sometimes.

 

so yes it is time to get yourself out there.

the safety of the forum is great,, but there is something on the line for even 10 dollars lol. 

 

oh yes for people who don't know my pricing yet..

it is 10 for one card..

20 for 3 cards

25 for 5 .

30 for 7

and 40 for 10 cards..

I feel that works best insead of minutes, for that I can keep things to the point..
