Hello all.  First time looking at Tarot forums, so will spend a while feeling my way...

I'm a scientist, naturalist, folk musician, and generally interested in all sorts of things that colleagues would say I shouldn't be! I've had an RW deck for many years, and have done readings for myself and occasionally friends also, but never pushed it very far. Although the readings were often scarily accurate, somehow the deck never seemed to quite connect with me; many of the cards I never really felt that I understood, and I was always looking up the meanings!

That changed with finding the deck I was obviously meant to have - the Wildwood. This deck has completely opened my eyes to the potential of the tarot, despite (or because of) the non-traditional aspects of it. So, now I do want to learn more, and share interpretations with others, in order to better appreciate all aspects. Looking forward to some fascinating and enlightening discussions!

Greetings to you also Wanderer!  l have had the same issue with decks being ok but never quite connecting.  Its great when you find the 'ones'.

Thank you, both!  :)

What I find strange, Thoughtful, is that a different mythology can somehow connect me more thoroughly to the universal wotsit (for want of a better name). I'm fascinated by what is actually going on with Tarot cards... because something certainly is, with complete disregard for my rationalist background!

I was thinking of the Melmoth book by Maturin, but anyway:

Thank you all!  :)

The moniker is actually much less imaginative than all that, I'm afraid - it's just the Wildwood's version of The Fool! It has slightly different connotations, though, which make a lot of sense to me: stepping onto a bridge of rainbows to cross from the sunlight into the dark and tangled realm where we find challenges enough to grow from. It's about making that leap of faith to cross out of your comfort zone, in the assumption that you'll be able to cope... and will come out of it a wiser person.

I can't believe I missed that, especially with the personal text under your (nonexistent) avvie. I also have the Wildwood, and you just reminded me that I should work with it more.

I also like how you've already made your way through the various forum sections. See you around, Wanderer. :)
