Marisa Kirisame Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 I can offer some translation if I get more detailed stuff regarding this deck from Russian tarotists. P.S. I've always found demonic being's love for inverted stuff - specifically, upside-down crosses and relics - funny. Where is up and where is down, when it comes to the world?
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 Marisa Kirisame[/member] you are a godsend! <3 You're so going to be my fave person now lol. :)) There are some Russian passages in most of the threads here, specifically in the individual card threads. We tried our darnedest to discern them using whatever resources are available, but even mighty Google (Translate) has its limits. Just feel free to translate whichever ones you want. No pressure tho! If you want to participate in the discussions too you are most welcome. :)
Marisa Kirisame Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Post the ones you're having hardest time with so I can look through.
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 15, 2018 Author Posted August 15, 2018 We don't really have a hard time. We rely more on Google Translate and just polish the parts that look pretty weird by looking up possible other translations of the offending Russian phrases. If you wish, you can look at the individual card threads because I'll be posting the corresponding sections from the Russian book by Sklyarova. I've only posted one now, on the Magic Circle card, but I'll create new card threads every Tuesday and Friday. You may translate them if you want, but please don't feel obligated to do so. :)
EmpyreanKnight Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 My apologies for the long hiatus. My professional duties kept me from devoting a bigger chunk of my time to the study group. That's not the true reason however. In my research regarding some tangential aspects of the deck which I think will make each card thread more pithy, I had to pore through lots of books. I had to check and cross-check each reference, exploring the charts and information presented in established books so that I could get to their very source. In these islands where tomes like these are not at all easy to come by, that presented quite a challenge. I'm glad to say that it all was mostly a success tho. Reading about decanates and quinances and demons and angels does lead one to a few (unexpected) rabbit holes, and I had to put my foot down lest it all becomes too unwieldy. It was all rather heady tho, and very very interesting. I'm actually excited, and I can't wait to continue this dance. Later on I'll include another relevant and very exciting area of study - the decanates. For now tho, the spirits of the cards are beckoning.
